IMO, it doesn't make alot of sense to spend heaps of money on vinyl only to have it ripped to mp3 at 192kbps to fit on the over-bloated ipods of the general listening public so I say keep to CDs. Plus, if your tracks are good enough and sell, you'll be able to re-coup costs and put whatever is left ...

I like it - esp. that strummed synth sound that punctuates the kick / bass. Direktor is right though, the hats are a bit too loud when they come in and the baby's voice kinda does change the vibe up a bit. It starts out ghetto futuristic then goes teletubbies IMO. Keep that mix for yourself and mayb...

juno 106 (with one dead voice) for urgent sale.
Hey All, I love this keyboard but I haven't used it in years. Great for bass - some nice pads but its basically an organ. It has one flakey voice chip but it still works fine in mono. Sub bass slider is also missing. Cost of replacing the bits was quoted to me at around 200 bucks including installat...

Sorry folks but beyond the poll results, this thread is complete rubbish. This scene isn't dead. All scenes have lean periods. When electronic dance music first broke in OZ, live music died in the arse and then a few years later (when everyone was bored of Dance music) it came back with a vengence. ...

Like most major sporting codes, supporters have turned AFL players into mini-gods - placing them on a pedestal of unrealistic expectations. We build them up into something they're not, reinforce it with the cheering adoration of thousands and then suddenly we get all pissy when they act like they're...

When I was younger, I drew parallels between metal and drum and bass. I felt a raw energy and drama in Drum n Bass that I didn't get in other styles of music besides metal. It presented an alternative to the sappy four-on-the-floor crap I was forced to listen to in shopping centres and inner-city ca...

^^ Good question - I guess I would have to hear the mix to know what should stay and what should go but the basic idea is this: If the fundamental note is 60hz, fundamental meaning the dominant frequency or pitch of the note, then the first order harmonic is double that: 120hz; second harmonic is 24...

Have you applied compression to the sine bass channel itself or stereo outs of your mixer? Compression on the mix buss can get messy if there is heaps of bass - it can really mess with the sounds... Could make them 'cloudy' maybe. Is there clipping in the sine bass channel or sub groups or something...

I think that Snowie's suggestion is a reasonable guideline in theory; high passing kick and bass at different frequencies would provide more mix headroom which is clearly important especially i...

I think its gutsy for anyone to post tunes and so I've had a really good listen and here's what I honestly think. 1. The sounds, for my taste, are somewhat generic. It sounds a lot like sample cd / preset soft synth type stuff; the midbass, lead and gated pad in particular. I'm sure you're just usin...

Its arguable that good songs with strong arrangements practically mix themselves. Yet how many posts on various product...

^^ You're pretty much right Direktor. NS-10s were commonly referenced as sounding like standard quality consumer hi-fi technology. IMO it doesn't matter what monitors you by as long as they sound good in the space your working with - that is everything - that is paramount to good mixes.
