just tested smokescreen on the ipad here at work - the demo adverts work ok, but anything more complicated than that runs like a dog.
Most animations look really choppy with javascript on the ipad. I don't think smokescreen is a viable replacement for flash, at least at the moment.

You can, but javascript performance on ipads and phones etc is still pretty weak, especially when it comes to animations etc...

Its a nice little phone! An upgrade to 2.1 should happen by the end of the year apparently.

Assuming all goes well, an upgrade shouldn't be too umm destructive.

Personally I am waiting till Vodafone brings out the Samsung Galaxy S.

^ isn't 32bit XP limited at 3gb of ram that it can use? might be worth installing 64bit to use the extra 1gb. i'm noticing in 32bit ableton i'm using all my 2gb of ram in no time now when producing and racking up heaps of channels with FX, plugins etc... time to upgrade to an i7 and win7 64....
