I had a great time at KMG, first time I've been. HEAPS of aussie talent around the place, and geez, for $35 you just can't argue, the whole vibe felt like any other festival (except more patriotic, which was a bit of fun), and there was enough dirty electro and beats around to keep me smiling. Also,...

Yeah, when I say I ditched my CD collection, I didn't mean literally throwing the CDs out. They're in storage, sans plastic cases. I just meant I stopped putting them on display, as if I used them regularly. But yeah, 99% of the time a 320 MP3 is completely acceptable.

Windows XP - if you want the ultimate audio converter, get sox off Sourceforge. It'll convert anything to anything. It's command line based though. Or check out Audacity. I ditched my CD collection and went digital awhile back, but when I did have them around, they were in alphabetical order by artist, however they were mostly albums. If they were singles for DJing, I'd probably go chronological.

Yeah it only works cleanly on uncompressed audio tracks with no master bus processing like limiters, compressors etc. It'll still work to a degree on other audio tracks but you'll hear artefacts.

If you've gone to the trouble of getting proper monitors, you may as well get a proper sound card as well. Nice, didn't realise LCDs were still so expensive.
I read somewhere OLED had been ruled out by a few manufacturers recently due to it just being too expensive compared to other methods, although I guess because it's flexible it'll probably have other applications apart from just consumer TVs.

I'm using it... pretty cool, although they want to start charging people for "pro" accounts which I think will kill it pretty quickly if there's no other way to use it. It's a nice luxury, but it's certainly not a necessity.
