I also reckon we get John Course and Grant Smilie to play.

all jokes aside - PBS and RRR get about 3% of that of the audience Nova does. If you are serious in reaching an audience and generating real awareness outside of the same old circles that WILL KNOW ABOUT THE GIG ANYWAY then why not step outside the comfort zone.
ooo... I work in the same building as Nova and Vega so I can certainly approach them in person if there isn't already a hot lead for them...

Cool, when I return from holiday... 9/01 I can visit them, I'll need some promo material. It doesn't have to be that soon but I'd like to assist if I can.

i'm doing PBS, RRR and JJJ, if everyone is cool with that. Well i have already sent email to PBS and RRR, and am waiting on the press release before approaching JJJ.

Though, Miss Bee, you want to handle JJJ if you have contacts there? Cos i was going in as an outside on that one.

given you have a nice long lead time due to brb's organisation - it really opens up who you can approach ... monthly magazines etc who can give it some nice glossy coverage.

Sammy mentioned that someone here knows Nicole Foote from JJJ, I'll ask her who it is when she gets back

If and when someone can provide me with the full details for the Fire Aid event(s), I'll be able to get one done. :)

From what I understand, the acts etc are not confirmed as yet.

Ekk!

i have only just see this. Cool event. Didn't know it was happening. Must have been when i was being Fi-diana Jones styles :P

Let me know how i can help. I organised the raffle for MBU. I have a few prizes left over which missed the boat for MBU. We can add these to the fire aid raffle if you are doing one?

Fi - Raffle assistance would be ace... leftovers are grand too.

On the all ages thing, the outside part of Miss L's being outside and all, do you have to be over 18 to be in there?? Maybe cos its outside that gives kids the opp to come down on the sunday... if they stay outside? I dunno, im just guessing. 8)

I had an awesome meeting with the owners of Miss Libertine on Friday night and the Press Release is just about done.
All I need to finish it is a quote from a spokesperson from each of the charities.
D-Boy is already in contact with the C.F.A and I have the mobile numbers of the people from Wildlife Victoria.
It looks like we may have a couple of MAJOR sponsors for this too! JPS & the owners of Miss L are talking to a couple of VERY generous companies who are keen on the idea. I won't name them now in case it doesn't happen.

In the next day or so the Press release will be finished and I'll send it to absolutely everyone so they can pass it on to anyone they know in ANY kind of media (no matter how small or big)

I'll start PM'ing all the people who have offerred help

I think this is gonna be MASSIVE

just so people know - i will be sending the press release to PBS and Triple R for radio coverage. Just so there is no doubling up.

Happy to do Triple J as well, as i have not heard from Miss Bee if she is covering them or not?

Well Nova is in the same building as me, as I said, I'd like to make an appointment and see them personally, also Vege FM is here as well. So I can do those 2. :)

what abouts any interstate dj's we can get down?
maybe we could get virgin to donate some flights?
where's klaus these days?

Posted: Thu Feb 08, 2007 1:32 pm
by breaksRbest
I highly doubt that Virgin would donate flights.

We're pretty happy with the breaks lineup, it's the Live hip-hop acts that have not come to the party. They're just not interested :?

we also need some Live Jazz bands to play on the balcony on Sunday arvo if anyone knows any jazz musicians?

Sweet.. thought there might be some break in there but all good. Guessin i'll be there saturday nite :)

So who else is goin? Better be every single person on here!
By the way my old lady who's a volunteer for the CFA and was fighting the fires last year said this is such a good idea and she hopes it all goes well. Big ups to the fireys and lets raise them a shitload of cash!

Just a curiosity thing: does anyone have an idea/goal in their heads of how much will be raised this weekend??

I've got absolutely no idea at all, but I reckon it'd be fun to try estimate how big/successful the fundraising will be.

My 'out of thin air' guess is $5000.

Not even gonna try and guess Mixxy, don't wanna jinx it ;)

stray, I'm sure we can work out some sort of receipt thing. how much ya plannin' on donating?

Posted: Wed Feb 28, 2007 5:50 pm

receipts will be sorted through CFA and Wildlife, depending which one you want your mo money to go to Stray. Will happily help though 8)

Mr Tax man already had chats with me about this one.

bases covered and loaded, ready, pitch!

I'll donate something.. but was just wondering if you were going to have an obvious way at the venue (besides the entry fee) for people to donate money.
A donation box or something..
