"groundbreaking" drum and bass

Post by Spherix »

whats so "groundbreaking" about this commix album? sounds just like all the old polar stuff to me?
does anyone think words such as this get thrown about too loosely in reviews?

I think it's very well produced, particularly sonically speaking - but I wouldn't say "groundbreaking".

I dont think anyone can be ground breaking these days. Its all been done before in dnb or music that dnb is influenced by. But, that album is certainly refreshing. Most of the harder dance floor stuff around (not that its a dance floor album) is utter techy boring shit. Also i believe the album covers a good mixture of flavors.

Overall its great music! Have another listen!

This album is "nice" at best. Not bad music or DnB....very accessible DnB.

DnB needs another hit album to bring new listeners in.

Its refreshing. There are some real fun tracks in there like belleview and change, and a good variety of different sounds too.

That album is the only dnb I've been able to listen to lately...

Gold.

Disgraceful comment Mr. Sea.

There's some awesome DNB around at the moment IMO, but it all depends on what floats your boat.... I'm not digging much of the chop'n'change Tek type business these days, nor the jump up, and some of the liquid is starting to wane a bit (IMO) - but the deep, atmospheric, tek-ish type stuff - it be the business!

But... as Mr. Bukem says: "It's all a matter of opinion"... innit?

klute and breakage are where it's at for me.

I'm sure there are probably alot of producers that are just not releasing tunes too. If it's anything like dubstep, alot of the stuff that is really doing it for me is unreleased. I just don't have the time or contacts to get hold of the stuff in Dnb though.

Might have to change if I'm going to start DJing regularly though, i'd like to play a little bit of that kinda stuff every now and then.

from what I've heard, 99% of dubstep, is Chin stroking, Selfindugant boring stoner crap. 0.1 on the richter, more than 3 songs in a row is stronger than a sleeping tablet. Soft Synth Bass wobble and Reverb on the Snare. Big Whoop!
There will never be a Dubstep hit single. Because 'Good Song Writting' and Dubstep are Chalk and Cheese.
I hope to be corrected, every time I listen to a Dupstep track.
It hasn't happen yet.

My disgraceful comment (which was tongue-in-cheek, and I'm sure Sea knows this) was more in reference to dubstep being "groundbreaking" to drum'n'bass. Whilst it's a new genre, I don't find it groundbreaking in regards to DNB - coz it ain't DNB.

My second paragraph about "good" DNB was not in relation to Sea's comments, more so about people saying how there is no "good" DNB these days.... hence the new paragraph.

Word.

Burial album is the goods; nice, deep'n'moody - and I agree, more 2-step than dubstep - but where do you draw the line hey?
