HANG DRUMS: Check these out!!!!

Post by Direkt »

Amazingly beautiful and unique instrument....

Can just imagine these being implemented into some nice melodic, ambient, atmospheric, deep electronic music.

yeah ive seen someone play these somewhere too. might have been rainbow. this guy is especially awesome tho.

reminds me of a Seba tune. edit: metropolaris

fairly elusive instrument from what i can gather. even if you get a chance to order one you will be waiting till around 2011 to get your hands on it. and then you will have to travel to Bern, they make maybe 2 of them a day. you can see them on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0225872205

rofl price.

that kind of waiting list is normal for a handmade instrument from a fine maker.

these things are cool though!

the price would explain why people are trying to make them from propane gas tanks.

Awesome sound to them. Reminds me of the Cliff Martinez (former drummer for the Chilli Peppers) soundtrack to Solaris... one of the best OST's I've heard in a long time. They may actually be hang drums he's using in there actually, decide for yourself...

Gorgeous stuff.

Yeah, great album

Think its probably a different instrument, but not so sure

I could swear the 'theme' to baltars number 6 in battelstar galactica is some poor mans rip off of the solaris soundtrack

Hard to tell from that 30sec clip... but it sounded more like keys to me...

FoundationStepper: Hahaha, yep I can see that. :D

Direktor: Yeah you might be right. There's definitely a metallic kind of ringing sound over the top of some notes though, but yeah, hard to tell from that clip. I've got the whole soundtrack here... could be a few different instruments working together.
