Excellent. Inviting it is indeed. Ostara offers a diverse range in music and psy is only a small part of it. It's everything really - breaks, dnb, dub, chilled beats, progressive and minimal, dub reggae, blue n roots, acoustic.

I could really go on forever couldn't I?

Here are the BBA DJ bios for you:-

FINNA

Finna stumbled across the jungle sound at a rave party back in 1995 where the almighty Grooverider graced the decks, instantly addicted to this new sound Finna owned turntables within the week and was busy mixing for many years to come…

His first DJ set was in 1996 at Jungle Vibes, from there he went on to play for highly regarded Groove Therapy Crew at Soulaar Sessions aswell as many Melbourne club’s big and small such as Hi Fi bar, Billboards, Lounge, Laundry, Prince Of Wales and Earthcore Festival just to name a few.

Finna has been running Jungle/ DnB events since the late 90’s, in 2005 he and Safire founded Broken Beat Assault which has grown to become one of the leading Promotions team in Melbourne and allover Australia.

Over the past few years Finna has showcased and played alongside some of the world’s elite DnB DJ’s including Andy C, Randall, Fierce, Ed Rush, Pendulum, SS, Calyx, Bryan Gee, Break, Matrix, Dom & Roland, State Of Mind and Bad Company just to name a few..

Never pushing one particular vibe of DnB, Finna plays a wide spectrum from deep rollers, tekk, and of course some dancefloor smashers, and don’t be surprised to hear a slice of old skool vibes thrown into the mix!

Artists popping up on Finna’s playlist of late – Break, NPhect, Survival, Teebee, Calyx, Commix, Mindscape, Tactile, D Bridge, Silent Witness, Calibre, and so on!

It’s all about the journey, Deep Tekk rollin Drumz Bizness! Music policy is simple - if its good music it will get played!

SAFIRE

Safire began playing Drum and Bass from a young age receiving very early achievements such as winner of the Australian Noise Festival competition at only 17, which featured 1000’s of Dj’s from around AUS.

2007 saw a vinyl release on Resolute Recordings (UK) which was the huge ‘Heatstroke’, a collaboration with Mindscape which received international recognition around the globe from the likes of Calyx, Teebee, Klute, State Of Mind, Upbeats, Break and & regular airplay on Bailey’s BBC Radio1 show. From then on also saw his debut solo release on Climate recordings (AUS) featuring ‘Dream Carrier’ ‘Shadows’.

Safire is one of the founders of Broken Beat Assault in 2005, which has grown to be one of the most recognised event organizers in Australia. This led to countless hours in the studio and spending most of his funds buying studio equipment. Over the years Safire has began to craft a concoction of high paced Nuero funk rhythm’s, without being afraid to throw in assortments of the deeper & intelligent sides of drum and bass.

Expect a massive b2b rinseout @ Ostara Festival ‘08 with Finna & Dabeata representing the sounds of BBA

DABEATA

Dabeata & Music go hand in hand; from a young age he discovered the art of drums and before he knew it he was playing around town with a few bands and other musicians.

After doing the live thing with the band for some time he started to shy away from this particular style and discovered this new sound called jungle / drum & Bass. Being a drummer he then started to get a feel for the style and began to jam his own loops with this new style of dance music, not many bands were in touch with this style of music and Dabeata could see an interesting fusion developing.

One of the co-founder of Broken Beat Assault, the next step was to mix live Percussion in with dj sets using congas, bongos & other percussion instruments, this added a whole new aspect to the vibe of the BBA events.

Since drumming alongside many world-renowned dj’s Such as Big Bud, Calyx and Randall, he is now rinsing out the Clubs on the wheels of steel supporting the likes of Andy C, State Of Mind, Bad Company, Break & Fierce, Misanthrop, Calyx, Dose and the list goes on. Bringing you an experimental fusion of deep rolling, Tech Drum and bass, Dabeata is sure to take you on an epic musical journey through an array of cutting edge beats and basslines!

This is certainly shaping up to be a really good weekend of music! Roll on September!

Hello everyone, this is Erika - event producer for Ostara using Luke's login - I hope you don't mind. We hope you will join us for the weekend of the 19, 20 & 21st September. A lot of hard work has gone into putting this event together and we can't wait to see our hard labour come into fruition, now in it's second year.

We'll have all sorts of music - bands and DJs. There will be something there for everyone.

A few things I would like to point out and they are -
- it's camping on site
- bring warm clothing as it does get rather chilly up in the Otways
- the site is enviromentally sensistive so please be mindful of litter - reduce, reuse, recycle.
- we ask everyone to please take their rubbish home with them
- where possible, please avoid bringing glass bottles with you. We would hate for somone to cut themselves on broken glass.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me either via our myspace http://www.myspace.com/ostarafestival or via email at [email protected]. This is our yearly fundraising event and this year all proceeds will be donated to Your Water Your Say.

Lastly - round 1 early bird tickets @ $35 end this Friday then they go up to round 2 $45 until middle of August then up to $55 until middle of September, more on the gate. You can purchase tickets online via http://www.greentix.com.au or at selected outlets as listed above.

We look forward to having you spend the weekend with us. Should be a corker indeed!!!

See you all in September and keep checking our Myspace site for regular updates on line up and other activites.

Thanks everyone!

Erika :D

I agree - Earthcore sounded MAD last year.

It all comes down to the skill of the audio engineer.

Ostara is using someone who has tweak the funktion1 system at Opeia twice before - the shed did not even rattle!

The funktion1 also sounded great at Hernan Cattaneo at Brown Alley as well. Something amazing about the science - it was so loud that the cops came to have it turned down - yet the whole time you could hear exactly what the person next to you was saying, and have a conversation without raising your voice???

Howdy all. Erika again here on Luke's login. Thought I would give you a snapshot of how the weekend of Ostara will be set out.

Due to sound restrictions on the site itself we have compromised with both the new management and the council that night time music will take place in the recreational hall of the site but just before sunrise it will transfer onto the outdoor stage, then just after sundown it will flow back in and so on. I hope that makes sense? It will all be centralised in the one area of Opoiea/Sokil if you have been there before.

The transfer between stages will be done seamlessly thanks to Simon from Ishtar Productions - the chappy with the Funktion One sound system, and yes, both stages will have Funktion 1!

Hope that helps!

Hi everyone, just thought I'd let you all know that there's been a mix up in delivery of the round 2 tickets to outles, so I'm letting you know that there are still Round 1 tickets available at selected stores as noted above. You're still in with a chance at getting cheap tickets.

Thanks.

Erika again here.

Just thought I'd add another bit of information - there will be no alcohol sold on site but you can bring your own but we ask you, please, don't bring glass bottles if you can avoid it. It's more from a safety perspective. There will be people walking around in bare feet and would REALLY hate for someone to cut their foot on broken glass. Lets keep it safe eh?

Thanks for reading.

Best thing would be to phone greentix.com.au direct on 1300 369 882. It usually takes them a couple of weeks to despatch tickets. If you're still unsure let Erika know on [email protected] and she will get on to them.

Tickets up to $45 at the moment. They go up to $55 middle of next month, so unless your swimming in lots of cash, better get to the early ones.

Hi everyone, Erika again on Luke's login. A couple more DJ announcements for you .......

Announcing .......................

KWANTUM PHYSIX

I'm a rookie producer thats just beginning to crack the iceberg of electronic composition.

Influenced by experimental electronix, Jungle, drum and bass and psybient chill; I'm approaching a style that is ambient but rhythmic thats full of light and undiscovered song arrangment.

My purpose in the music world is to create unheard of music that reconnects neural pathways in the brain just by hearing it. The mental healing is not something you have to be aware of to accept, it just needs to travel through your ears and be intergrated in the brain. The pathways that the music travel are pathways that are unused and forgoten since birth. These pathways need to be reactivated in order for the human race to evolve through our current habitual behaviour and perceptions.

Because of this complex template, it has taken quite some time to develope my sound. I've completed a mere 3 tracks which i'm overjoyed with, which i will be mixing into my set of influencial artists. My set will NOT contain hard, aggressive or dark sounds. It will be a set to dance to and chill to.

This year also sees the return of our good fellow .....

SOULWHITEMAN
http://www.myspace.com/soulwhiteman

SoulWhiteMan began DJing in 2003 after seeing Adam Freeland and Meat Katie in Melbourne. Both artists made him fall in love with breakbeat music.

After collecting all kinds of breaks for two years he developed a taste for deep breaks and scored his first gig at the 33 1/3 NYD Breakbeat BBQ at the ESPY in 2006. He has played at Stylus as well as the Ostara festival and numerous smaller parties around Victoria.

Now living in Canberra he has started exploring progressive house and the deeper sides of techno. As his title suggests his sets to contain deep grooves together with emotional elements for the mind.

Expect to hear deep beats spanning breaks and techno from SoulWhiteMan at Ostara festival this year.
