Rock Like This present Dopamine (Sydney) + Opiuo (NZ)
Friday Jan 16th, 2009, Brown Alley
Melbourne’s premiere breaks crew Rock Like This return to In Rotation with Sydney’s heavyweight Dopamine !
Dopamine is one of Australia's most internationally respected producers. With huge amounts of support from John Acquaviva, Chris Liebing, Oliver Giacomotto, Meat Katie, Elite Force, The Plump DJ's, Basskleph and many more. Dopamine is writing and remixing some of the hottest tunes and playing in some of the hottest clubs around the globe with regular visits to Fabric and The End in London, Chinese Laundry in Sydney, China, Russia, Hungary, New Zealand and Spain - the list goes on and on. Matt Dopamine Goddard is a man in demand.... and in more than just one genre too....
Matt is already known as one of breakbeats top players winning best single for his debut release 'Hold You" on Rennie Pilgrem's TCR label at The International Breakspoll Awards at Fabric Nightclub in London but the last two years has seen him breaking out and releasing everything from wobbly electro house on John Acquaviva's Definitive record label to minimal and techno with Madox on Italys highly acclaimed Hell Yeah label. There have also been hugely successful remixes for Basskleph's Vacation Records and of course the constant string of releases on his very own Title Fight Recordings which he co-owns with Ministry's plus size poster boy, Klaus Hill.
Also joining the crew on the night is Opiuo. Originally hailing from the land of the long white cloud, Opiuo (Oscar Davey-Wraight) has been in the world of music production for around 7 years. He is currently promoting his recent release 'Dope Quest' + 'Cee One Unkee' on Empathy Recordings (under the alias Tektoniks), which is receiving widespread attention and support from many corners of the global breakbeat community.
Winning New Zealand's prestigious drum'n'bass mixing competition 'Rumble In The Jungle' in 2004 propelled him onto the NZ DJ circuit, proceeding to gig consistently for the years to follow, completing numerous national tours. It was in 2005, attracted to the funkier, chunkier, head nodding, back breaking styles of breaks, that he adopted this new genre.
A consistent output of diverse releases and working with some of the most respected labels and producers in the business has solidified both Dopamine and Opiuo’s name in the industry.
Dopamine is the pleasure centre of the brain so if you haven’t had some Dopamine in your life, then it might be time to inject some.
Support: OPIUO (NZ), Andy Hoffman, Deviant, Citizen.com Vs Abstar + Jaime Mack, Paulie Fatlace, Barron Von Rotton + Breaksome
