Return to Babylon - Sat. 17th Jan. 2009 - G-Town

SATURDAY the 17th of JANUARY 2009
NATIONAL HOTEL
MOORABOOL STREET
GEELONG

Time to return for another excursion in G-Town...

It's been a while since the success of the first Babylon party, and now we're back to once again drench the National Hotel with creeps of colour and blankets of bass.

That's right, it's time to get your bogan boots on and sweep your friends along to Geelong.

Expect minimal techno/house, dubstep, glitch, dubwise techno, drum & bass, shonky decor attacks, people you haven't see in ages, bright flashing lights, smiling randoms and good vibes.

FLIPPO (Sub Continental Dub) - Dubstep / Techno
http://www.myspace.com/musicflippo
Obviously needing no introduction here, Dave is causing serious subsonic tsunamis at the moment.
Not to be missed.

MySteRy aCt - Techtronic musings and electronic pranks (live)
One of the incognito tales of talent that's been bringing the vibes in the Shanno Krew.
Original electronica spat via Ableton.

KIDDO - 'Hip Haus' (live)
Returning to the land of G to share her musical creations, Phoebe plays original live material on Ableton.

KWANTUM PHYSIX - Dubstep / Drum & Bass

SCHMIDTKE - Minimal / Drum & Bass

MACROPHIDIA - Minimal / Dubstep

DUBSPIRAL - Drum & Bass

ONE MORE ACT TO ANNOUNCE TOMORROW

Return to Babylon is a free event. It is promoted in a non-profit way. There will be the option for punters to donate loose change in the back room if they think we deserve some pocket money. Hopefully we inspire you guys to support us so we can keep the ball rolling. Having said that, there will be no animosity extended to those who refuse to pay.

There was some talk about the decor from the first party. I think a few people thought that the large gum branches in the back room had been ripped from the Otways. The truth is that was a heavy wind storm a few weeks before the party, and all the branches were collected from the debris around the back roads of Torquay and Barwon Heads. None of them were torn away by hand.

That's it! Hope to see lots of new and familiar faces alike. Bring on the bass!

Looks like Dave and I are the only people on this thread.

What is with all you Melbourne people? Can't handle being so close to the coast?

Hahaha. Come down and bring a few of those little beach tents that only 'city people' seem to own.

It's true. You basically don't see them until the tourists come down. Then they litter the beaches and go to the solarium anyway.

Ahhh well. I'm sure some of you closet regional enthusiasts have caught a glimpse of the promotion.

the barking dog followed by the blue martini... they all seem to be young happy people that want to dance, the opposite of melbourne...

a couple of weeks ago melakai got 1300 through the door at the barking dog... wild stuff

the promoter always plays that dz track - down.

ah yeah of course. We had some flyers for this gig down at the barking, hopefully we can share the love. I shall have to get along for a sunday arvo session soon.

I was so suprised at the first Geelong we did @ The Nash last year. I was so apprehensive that anyone would turn up for dubstep/DnB/minimal etc, but it turned out to be a bigger night than new years eve according to managment - the vibes were fantastic.

and here is a flyer that changes colour :)

By the way...

I am having noluck at all contacting Projekter. He seems to have gone off the radar.

If anybody knows Rory and/or where to find him it would be much appreciated as I was really looking forward to his set at this party.... :(

Developments are random...

Looks like Projekter has disappeared so I am looking for a replacement at the moment.

I have two particular options in mind, will update info tomorrow...
