this one is an old one.. recorded live in Rome.. listening from the first 10 minutes, it sounds around 2005ish.. similar stuff to their essential mix.

Yep, work Christmas party. We were going to have it at Sensation (everyone has a white lab-coat here), but due to the global economic downturn senior management scrapped that in favour of early-bird Stanton tix and a gram of wizz for each employee.

Hot heat and then having the rain dump on ya when in line + no air conditioning inside + crowds = Eau De Dawg. Lots of smelly sweaty gurny people. Yay!

Breaks crowds.. hurrumph! No politeness like a D+B rinseout.. or trollstep crowd..

Skool of Thought spun up well, Mark and Dom did a really original mixup set, weaving their stuff thruout the set.. V diff to last few times I've seen em.

Didn't stay till end as kids need looking after.
Did it pick up in the last hr or so? What was last song? Good Vibrations?

so i'm officially old and retiring from the rave

waiting in the fucking rain and being ordered against the wall by some psycho russian security dude to start with sucked the big one. rain was running off the roof and drenching us further hence standing a couple of feet out you wanker

nearly 40 minutes jammed into a humid stairwell while skanks in skirts and heels sailed past sucked further. stiletto boots at a breaks gig? lol

getting a beer a total nightmare. toilets filth. blocked sinks, chicks vomiting, broken glass on the floor

stantons- no fucking idea which was a shame bcoz i was looking forward to seeing them. completely rammed. the heat off the main room from the second floor was like a bushfire- crowds of wasted sweating shirts off gurners. no interest at all in even trying to get near it.

whatever that was on pre lilmiS- some ragga donk type business- shuddddder. is that 'nu skool breaks?' serious as fuck then that it's time to hang up my raving shoes.

BU sammy for your old skool breaks set. had a tonne of fun dancing to your tunes. massive win opening with crooked, dropping ready or not and tricky. total win, good fun.

just how i want to remember the good old days. there seems a healthy crowd to take up our slack in representing at breaks gigs so i have no qualms at all in saying that will be the last big party at a club i will attend

this jaded old raver is done

bring on the little day parties- section 8, mojitos, lovely rolling tunes, home by 2am... now bring me my slippers

Well I went and bought a cpl of rolls of garbage bags to hand out to all the poor motherfuckers (including me) in line being ordered against the wall by that eurotrash crowd controller.. he probably had flashbacks thinking we were Chechen or Georgian seperatists.. lining us up so he could get a good shot in..

Gnat, give it another go - it was a pretty rude night. Lotsa pushing and shoving inside, smelliness.

Just pick your gigs!

Big ups the Garden Bar! Awesome crowd, loving the proper breaks, singing along. Wicked! :smt007

Shame about the overcrowding and lack of space. I didnt get much of a chance to check out Stantons, which was pretty devestating, but had such a ball in Garden bar it almost made up for it. 8)

Ok.. weird night.

started off with that rain!! I stole a cardboard box and put that over my head, and may have looked like an idiot, but i stayed 100% dry :P

But yeah completely agreed. They SO ould have sped that line up and helped keep people dryer!!

Bar lines = fail. Beer warming to boiling point within 5 mins = fail.

Too many people = fail.

Stantons played SOME good choons, but really didn't do it for me overall. In fact so much so that we left before they'd finished. That dubstep absolutely destroyed that set (not in a good way)

Mad set by Sammy and adsorb played osme good choons as did skool of thought.

I think the reason so many people were dissapointed (myself included) is because they were expecting an OLD skool breaks rave set, which wasnt gonna happen :(

really wanted to come and support the crew, but am a bit glad I didnt now.

I hear you gnat - I am getting totes over those kinds of scenarios, hello retirement, smaller quality gigs and letting the next gen take over and sweat for us.

if they oversold by 500 punters that is pretty shit tbh. but many venues legal 'capacities' are hardly adhered to, so whatevs heheh

I think that Brown Alley could hold that many people, if they were spread out across the rooms. But thats prolly the hard part isnt it, keeping it even across rooms when pretty much everyone is there for the one act.

Anyone remember Fractured re-launch there a while back? The numbers from that gig were 1600!!!

Be good next time if they could play at my house  ala Ils style :P

Wow glad I didn't go... Sounds like everyone on this forum is a little bit on the jaded side (I was years ago). Aahhh remember the good old days?!

So is the breaks crowd of today (ie. the stilletto boots girls and shirts off dog smell guys) who is now keeping the ITM forums going?

heh, not reallyimo..ITM is full of the kids who wear stillettos, shirts off and love progressive/trance/house/techno etc.
the dubstep and breaks threads seem to get little love there still....

lets face it, we ARE the old ravers now, the new ones are 18-23 and AMPED hahaha

I think the reality is most of us are just getting old! I'm going out less and less these days and when I do go, it just depresses me how young and beautiful everyone else is... and half of them don't even know it. Ahhhhhh... aging, I hate you. The best bit of advice I can think to give to the youngins (not that they'd listen) is to hit the gym regularly, stop smoking, use sunscreen, and apply an expensive moisturizer on a daily basis! :D Prevention is the key!!! :D

As for the gig I had a blast - missed the Stantons (but from what I hear I wouldn't enjoyed the dubstep too much anyway) and came in just to play my set at 6am, what an up-for-it crowd! Garden room had a wicked vibe, one of the more memorable sets I've played in awhile I think. (In all fairness one of the only sets I've played in awhile too, LOL.)

(In all fairness one of the only sets I've played in awhile too, LOL.)
enjoyed your set mate, so dirty! garden was great vibes all the way til close!
probably enjoyed it up there more than stantons. they were great in the middle of their set, the start was a bit boring and way too packed/hot etc so took a break and came back for the best bit. enjoyed it apart from their little uber-mainstream mashup incl doorly remix of bonkers...n left to head up again around 530 when they were petering out a bit
how did they finish though anyone who witnessed it ? (i heard they went like 45min overtime!)
