Thanks to everyone who came!.... was so rad to see such an awesome variety of music, great people, and once again a full venue but still comfy and full of great vibes! Was pretty awesome looking around the morning during sun control and knowing that amongst all the retarted shit going on politically in this country, we're all still coming together and doing rad things.

Party Review by Alliane (Reviewing for ITM)
http://www.inthemix.com.au/events/revie ... e_21082010
Tweaky Beats follows its sister event Cheeky Beats, which featured a diverse range of funky music, including glitch genius Opiuo. Tonight’s lineup included Rhythmik, The Mollusk, Anna Ce, and Sun Control Species, again rocking cozy little CBD pub, Miss Libertines.
The main dance floor took revellers into the desert, with four tall green cacti and a lime slinky surrounding the stage, suitably fluoresced by black lights. Two big screens playing various trippy visuals and a variety of colourful flashing lights added to the ambience. White paper music notes hung on strings from the walls and ceiling, though several were kidnapped by music loving patrons over the course of the night. Sound in the main room was crisp and bassy, but the front room sounded weaker than usual, with little depth.
Arriving around midnight, I found both the main dance floor at the back of the venue, and front bar room were quite full, with each room grooving to their respective tunes. The crowd was very friendly and fun and didn’t stop dancing! Rhythmik was on in the main room, it was fascinating to watch him skilfully triggering loops on his midi controller. The lovely Miss Eliza joined in here and there on her violin, weaving enchanting melodies into his funky tunes. The set was highly engaging , a nice combination of glitch beats and some deliciously dirty dubstep.
The Mollusk emerged from the sea of dancers around 1am, and began his own live set. Amazingly he had brought even funkier tunes, the scratchy, jumpy basslines propelling the crowd into mad dance moves. One slower melodic section would lead into the next release of broken beats, the chunky subwoofers at the front of the dance floor giving my ankles a sonic massage.
Around 2, the Mollusk finished up with a wobbly bang, and the beautiful Anna Ce started next on the decks. Her set mixed glitchy rhythms and reggae melodies with house and breaks basslines. Piano breakdowns and samples of old songs blended smoothly into the journey of beats. The flow and continuity of her selection was very impressive, each section getting the crowd a little looser. Over the next hour, she seamlessly made the transition from funky tempos to deep 4/4 rhythms, readying the room for Sun Control Species’ hypnotic tunes.
The side room sounded jazzy when i went to get a drink, reminding me of 20’smusic. It had quieted down a bit compared to the still packed main room now.
Sun Control Species started working his magic. He opened with a rolling progressive tune, and the room began to shake itself in time. Haunting melodies and jazzy notes broke down into ever deeper and techier beats. The funky driving basslines were unending, but the crowd luckily didn’t seem to need to rest either. His mixing was seamlessly smooth and a pleasure to listen to. Over time, the tunes turned a bit more brooding, with wild animal growls and snarls, deliciously trippy. He ended the set by slowly dropping out the bass, leaving the crowd softly dancing to a sweet lilting melody.
Tweaky Beats was an awesome night out: the venue seemed perfectly sized, the crowd was friendly and having a great time, and the lineup showcased an excellent selection of diverse beats and live performances!
