almax, spinfx and youthful_implants have all made good points in relation to things that can improve the mb.c site.

ideas suggested so far:
  • radio station
  • redesign
  • promotion/parties
what else could be done?

stickers!! I love them and they might get people onto the site.

radio is also an excellent idea, relatively easy to implement and manage. doesn't have to be 24 hours a day. I would be happy to roster shows or help set up a workable schedule.

I dont know all the ins and outs but I think it would bring a lot of people to the site, both to be involved but also to listen

could also, with a bit of a push, run (paid maybe?) advertising for local nights.

I suggest that maybe initially use the radio to broadcast live from events to spread the word, and be featured in the promo for those nights.

from there dedicated nights could happen.

Streamed gigs (live or not) would be rad. No idea how much hassle it is to set up though. That whole Awdio thing Lounge had (has?) happening was cool (except for the paying for it part). If I cannae get to gigs, I will certainly still listen to them :)

its not a hassle at all, just need a live internet connection which most venues have and a laptop.

job done.

it's a little more complicated than that, but if you guys know of any venues which would be happy to do it, i'm happy to set up the streaming server(s).

I'll ask Bo for Libs, perhaps Revolver would be good as well I will ask them.

I dont really know too many venues personally but its a start.

+1 for the sticker idea. Relatively cheap and effective with the proper logo.

"Breaks is Dead" sticker FTW. Controversy is always good for getting attention.

IMO what melbourne beats needs is an events section that syncs up with the forums events topics. People can then see whats happening where and when quickly. Alot of people would of missed out on heaps of parties/nights etc.. because they couldn't find anything on hidden amongst other topics. In this events section I'd suggest making the layout of it really simple so iphones and other smaller screened devices can access it.

Just a thought of a feature Ive wanted on MB for years.

putting a facebook "like" button on events would be cool too.

Is there a MB.C banner around somewhere? I would be happy to promote the site at our gigs with a canvas banner.

as much as i hate using facebook services in general due to their proprietary nature and the resulting lockin etc, i'm open to the idea :)

I only just saw this forum, but here my 2 cents...

Awdio seemed to die in the arse, as far as I know the set up is still here and at Lounge but as they are based OS its tricky to get tech help.

Happy to have streaming from Libs, its a great idea, and I do know a lot of other venue owners so if you want to make a list I can see if I can help to get in touch with who you want on here! However, what happens on the nights that Mb people maybe dont wanna hear the tunes, like our friday indie night? switch it off? slap a 'warning - possible cheese inside tonight' banner on it? :)

Yes to stickers, could be good blaxter, lets do a breaks one and a dubstep one and make the rivalry a thing on the streets, could be hella funny. I got contacts for printing if we want to do this.

re gigs - Id be happy for there to be something MB related happen at libertine, currently im booked till december apart from thursday backroom or sunday gigs, but we could plan for a sunday gig in spring with BBQ on the front balcony etc?
I would be happy to help a crew from here organise, and promote this. Needs a crew though, im not doing it on my own!

Also up for doing the MB photography exhibition at For Walls, and would display banner etc etc....but needs Liz and others to mobilize troops.

Basically, i have a venue and a gallery at my disposal, let me know how i can help in any way guys.
