yeah i know it is listed in Realestate.com
WAY over priced for what it is....
I think it is the agent jumping on teh bandwagon - the Church ownes teh whole block outright, so no mortgage repayments to make.
We moved in 3 years ago for $350 a week... They have done not a thing to it in that time, infact they ignored our requests and now want $400...
pppfffft

It is when you look at the place, we fell through a floorboard, it was replaced, but is about to go again, carpet was never laid 100% so is lifting all over the shop. they painted all the windows shut, there are cracks in every wall due to massive movement, which has also lead to the bath moving and all the sealer is now not sealing. uumm There has been a leak in teh kitchen for 3 years, and as such there is a rather large amount of water damage in teh kitchen roof - it has been bowing for months and months now, still nothing done... I told the agent that they really need to get it looked at as if it is left much longer they will have a HIGE job on their hands...
they got dodgy brother's to do the reno's, other houses in teh trip have all the enamel? lifting on the bath..

Your guys rent is ridiculously cheap! In Vancouver where I used to live, I was renting a 1 bdrm apartment (in a really nice downtown location mind you) for $1200/month - no weekly, you had to have that upfront every month. And for the area I was in that was cheap.. when I left, they bumped up the price of the same apartment to $2200. Crazy. Most rent in downtown Vancouver varied from about 1400 a month for an older 1 bdrm to $2500/month for a newer 1 bdrm and study.
And I'm not even going to get into London, I rented a studio flat in earls court in London, literally the size of a bedroom (the whole thing) for 700 pounds a month, like $1700 aussie dollars - and it had a shared bathroom! Fuck sakes!

I personally find Melb and vancouver on a pretty even par, and i lived in a1 bedroom at the corner or Robson and Burard Sts
We pay monthly here by the way, just use weekly terms, i have never lived anywhere in the world where you pay weekly
Most on here know all about London..... Of course the most $$ i have paid was actually Bangkok, it was serviced tho

Yeah I need a new place with a 1 month lease or 3 month lease.Sustain wrote:^^alot of ppl have leases on a month-to-month basis
although you'll only really get this in an established house, for example if your lease runs out and you just keep palying the rent
Not really a great climate for it as far as I can tell.
Don't hate me for house

I know someone looking for a flatmate. Here is the spiel.....
Large double bedroom available for rent in a single story Victorian Terrace house in North Carlton. The house is fully furnished (including washer & dryer) with the exception of the bedroom for rent. There is also has a large garden with outdoor paved area, herb garden and BBQ. The house is well located, close to public transport, Melbourne Uni, the city and shops.
You would be sharing with one other, a female 30+ worker. Prefer a professional, late 20's-30's, non-smoker, and up for their share of the housework. My home is my peaceful refuge after work, sport and socialising, but I like a drink and a chat. Rent is $695 pcm (around $160 pw) PLUS utilities. Bond is $650.
For contact details please PM me.

My brother is looking for someone to live in his Thornbury house while he's overseas for 5-6 months from late June. Sharing with his housemate who's already living there. She's lovely
The rooms are medium in size with polished floor boards and lots of light. One room has large built in robes. The house has central heating and air conditioning. Lots of living space. Modern kitchen with dishwasher. Large undercover decking with BBQ and a good-sized backyard. Just a couple of hundred metres from High Street and tram route. About 8 minute walk to train station. Very close to shops, supermarket, etc.
PM me if anyone knows anyone who might be interested

For ages I have been annoyed with landlords thinking they were cashing in on the rental crisis and boosting the rents to crazy prices... only to see my house re-let on the net today $30 per week above what it was... and without my consultation.... angry with real estate agents now... I have been made one of 'those' landlords

okay, update
found house today.
three bedrooms and a bungalow, great living areas and nice verandah and front yard, but back yard is basically patch of dirt with ghetto fence (not good ghetto, bad ghetto )
but is big enough for the yoshi to dig holes in.
great kitchen, heating, BIR etc,
good bathroom....
shag pile carpet that is already well loved so no risk of dog damage.
downsides are >
its in thornbury, near the split of high st and plenty rd. ten minutes walk to tram, twenty to train.
and the backyard is no trees, hardly any grass, not lush at all.
its $390 a week.
would definately need another person but plenty of room for them and good sized bedrooms.
its with our real estate agent again and they owe us now after previous fuck aruond with house. so if we want it, i think we can have it.
what does MB.com think?

hmm...
few negatives there
plus i thought it was meant to be a love nest...
housemates = fail
busy road area if yoshi got over bad ghetto fence too
$390 sounds higher side of usual but there are many more to choose from in that area as opposed to brunny so maybe just hang in there for a place for two..?
i don't think i'm any help

yeah i hear you gnat...
love nest is not gonna happen with the current rental market it seems,
just cant afford $400 a week together.,..
and many of the houses seem to be 2 bedroom for that price...
we need a room each and a shed type thing for me to do art in...
yard is dog proof and yosh has already been hit by a car so that should be okay...
front yard is nice and has big balcony in sunlight looking over the street.
hrmmmmm.....
