Yep. Black runs are starting to fill in, and the terrain parks will be up and running in a week or so.

Beaver Creek, Vail, Aspen and Telluride all the bomb.

Go to Beaver Creek. They have a grog store called Beaver Liquors.

I did my tax return online last night and I should be getting alot back so I think I`ll be holding off on going as much as I planned :( But instead I`ll be going to Japan in January. Big Ups to fat tax returns! :D

On another note $94 for a day pass is blatant highway robbery!

Holy crap, two weeks out from my trip to NZ and Mt Hutt gets a 1 metre dump in 36 hours! w00t
cant wait to go heliboarding, gonna be RAD :blob7:

check this out...

Mt Hutt is CLOSED for today due to heavy snowfall received overnight and the access road being impassable due to large amounts of snow and limited visbility. We have received 1metre of wind affected NEW SNOW in the last 36 hours and it is forecast to continue throughout the day. We have a 2.25 metre base!! The snow that has arrived has had rhiming with it which will cause time delays in the morning for operating the lifts. We will be assessing the conditions in the morning and update by 6.30am

Further weather information
Currently it is snowing on the mountain with light to moderate winds. The eye of the storm is expected to pass over the South Island today bringing more snow throughout the day and then easing a little in the afternoon. We are hoping for clearing weather in the next few days. The lifts, base building and road will require extensive clearing before we can reopen the mountain.

hotham is FAR superior to buller...

don't reckon I'll bother going to buller again. Way too fucking busy, hard hard hard compacted snow, with no give and very painful to stack on.

hotham ftw

lol, hotham can get just as compacted snow, but i agree, much better mountain, personally i find Falls Creek even better again for a snowboarder its just such a fun mountain with ways more natural jumps of rocks, village runs (so its like skateboarding through a town), tree runs and more terrain in general. only problem is its not as steep as hotham, but still more fun IMO. The park at Falls is far superior generally too. Go for the trifecta and try out falls next weekend Dan.
Me, im off to NZ tomorrow, going heliboarding in a region with a 5 metre ave snow depth at the moment! woohoo

I'm only a beginner, so parks and terrain is not something I'm getting into. But, you lose your confidence to try stuff you've learnt on rock hard snow that hurts when you stack and is hard to turn on... that said, some of the smaller runs at buller were OK.. just the main ones that were crap, and too busy.

hey, you guys might know what this is. I saw a guy boarding at buller who looked like he had trucks on his board and was hovering above the snow with the board sliding on some kind of pads, like skateboarding but with pads where the wheels would've been. Anyone seen this before?

So i heard a rumour that Mt Baw Baw this year will pretty much be one big snowpark based on the snowpark in NZ, such a good idea as the mountain otherwise is failing, this could very well revive it and see some serious money go their way.
Only 2 hours from Melbourne too.

That would be insane Al - be good for Australia to have something similar.

I rode Baw Baw once.

after a large night out - no sleep, decided to jump in the car and go.

two runs in and we where done

great drive for two runs.

can defo see some park action going on up there - will need a fair bit of man made to achieve though

how good is Snow Park Al - dreams are made of that sort of stuff

mate it would be just what the doctor ordered for Baw Baw, i grew up skiing that mountain as it is not far from where i grew up. It aint got much in the way of terrain but can get some nice dumps, especially early in the season. But a park actually works better with man made snow as it sticks together better. Would be awesome for the mountain and i reckon it would boom being so close to Melbourne.

^ would potentially be HUGE!

I could see Baw Baw actually doing alright with that sort of setup. don't need too many steeps, setup a pipe or two, rail park and kickers and away you go.

Open another pub or two, backpacker accomodation and away you go.

how does it go in spring & summer for Mountain biking?

the DH course is pretty sick. Is a lot steeper than most Australian courses (in fact on par with world cup courses from what I understand)

one section is like 25 switchbacks in a row. its pretty out of control. in the days before disc brakes (affordable ones anyways) you would get to the bottom and your rear brake would not be working because it had heated up so much.

I've only raced up there though so no idea what the recreational trails are like.
