Trouble in the remix
Melbourne producer and DJ Cubist has been threatened with legal action for his drum'n'bass remix of the Cat Empire's Hello Hello. Cubist was told the group "does not support any electronic music". The band's manager also contacted Triple J to prevent the broadcaster playing the remix.

remixes
Shit man , if someone does thier own version of my stuff without contacting me I personally feel like killin em, the difference with music seems to be " well everybody else does it" . as an artiist that just sucks , no matter how shit the song is and how great you think you make it its still not your idea. Getting press should never be the driver making something better shouldnt be either makin something new well thats different. To all the remixers /copiers you werent around when the tune /piece was born at least ask if your gunna fiddle with it
Atleast Cubist was a bit more creative with the Cat Empire than Sub-focus was with Nirvana.

Is this refering to my remix?tripongale wrote:Id always prefer nirvana than some lame ass reggae ish crap anyway
I studied music with these guys at uni and have played many gigs with them (outside of Cat Empire + 1 as CE). I think you'll find that this was most definately a statement from their management. I know for a fact that these guys have many DnB and numerous other electronic music genre albums at home. I find it dissapointing when management speaks on a band's behalf, I'd hate someone to speak so ridiculously on my behalf. I mean they could've said something like - "The CE don't not endorse unauthorised remixing" or something like that. To say that they "do not support ANY electronic music" is completely contraindicative. The Age wrote:Cubist was told the group "does not support any electronic music".
