my gripe is THIS BITCH OF A WEEK. Every day i get pressure, cos like, I decide when the calendar has a saturday on xmas and new years this year, don't i ?
every day I avert disaster and forge onwards with enthusiasm i pull from fuck knows where, and i get MORE PRESSURE AND CRAP. I am so fucking over it. Close to tears.

All three accidents could have been avoided with a bit of prudence and concentration TBH

I've been lazy and complacent all year, I think these hardships are the cosmos's way of telling me to kick it up a gear and sort shit out

No way I'll ever use a car as a primary form of transport, I love cycling too much

maybe you should go fixed then. as you're constantly pedaling your concentration goes thru the roof, massively fast reaction times can see into the future etc.

huge ^^^ that sounds like magic AND science right there!

see, that's why I drive, prudence is not really how i roll

but i AM a v good defensive driver. lapse in concentration/hangover together the reasons i crashed my car a few months ago but first time ever.

let's have lunch soon and I can back up the cosmos for you.

next purchase is a Cinelli Gazetta, just need money, of which i have nil right now.......can't say I'm particularly interested in riding it anywhere but the track though.......never know, everyone that rides fixed reckons you get the bug and can't stop so maybe it's only a matter of time before i'm conquering sydney rd brakeless, trackstanding for minutes on end and skidding down lt bourke st in the wet

Should be ready to put together in a few months. Can cop a frameset for about $600. Still undecided on which componentry and gear ratios n stuff

GOTD: lost voice. Flew out to give a talk feeling a bit cold-y on Wed, talk Thu (was fine) but ended up talking to my host for the next 500 million hours and was left with no voice at all Fri and Sat. Fucken mathematician: "Oh, she is losing her voice - I should keep talking to her. And when she doesn't answer the phone, but texts to say she has lost her voice, I should keep calling her. Because we really should keep talking about maths EVEN THOUGH SHE CAN'T SPEAK."

Only just getting it back now, but sound like a drag queen doing phone sex :?

Don't forget that these things make you a danger to others too. Mebbe don't try for the 'breaking someone else's leg' option ;)

PS. EPIC bike accident story from a guy at my old work: he was a road racer for decades and had only ever managed (bad) road rash. He swerved avoiding a girl running for a tram, got stuck in tram tracks, fell awkwardly, fractured a hip, got bone necrosis and needed a hip replacement! Don't wait for this to happen!!!

I hear ya

Thankfully all three incidents haven't proved a danger to anyone except myself. I have conciously resolved to adjust the way I ride (which mind you, was pretty defensive to begin with)

The stack I had last week was so weird. I stopped spinning as I approached a red light and reached for my water bottle. After taking a sip, I leant forward to put it back in the cage and for some strange reason flicked the rear brake. I NEVER use the rear brake. It locked up the rear wheel, and because my centre of gravity was so low and far forward, I was kicked out of the saddle. My left foot planted itself on the deck and got wedged between the down tube and front wheel. Heard an almighty CRACK and felt pain as soon as I landed. Knew within about 5 seconds I had broken something. It would've looked awkward and funny as fuck. TBH I reckon I'd have been doing about 5kmh when it happened

That story about your friend is pretty intense. It's strange how some people's riding histories are littered with accidents and others have ridden for years without one. Have read about guys and girls that have ridden road and track at an elite level for a long time and still haven't had a prang of note. Then there's others who seem to be constantly nursing a broken arm/collar bone etc. Cadel is one who comes to mind

On the bright side, my arm's alot better now, so I can focus on healing the leg. Hopefully the plate and screws don't cause me too much grief when I get back on the bike

Jesus epic post, can you tell I'm bored?

Has anyone else had trouble with Centrelink in regards to Austudy?
I've applied as i'm studying full time now and have been rejected because 8 years ago i studied Furniture Design for a year. I didn't even complete the 2nd year because i lost interest in the course so i pulled out. Didn't claim Austudy and have never claimed a thing from Centrelink til now.
I've appealed the decision and got a letter today saying it was rejected again. This if fucking ridiculous! I have friends who have studied more than one course and have received Austudy for each of them.

SO FARKING ANGRY RIGHT NOW!!

Shit mate that sounds farked

Hope that doesn't happen to me. I studied for about a semester 8yrs ago then left the course

Am going to study part time next year, but would like the option of being able to switch to full time if the need/want arises, in which case I'd obviously be claiming Austudy

Do you have any specific info on why these conditions exist?

I'm sure someone on here would be able to shed some light

No specific info on why they exist. I just can't see why there is a problem.

The letter says that if i left the course before completion then i have to have evidence of mitigating circumstances for why i did. It's fucked!

I too am sick of hearing about him, particularly the angle that major news sources have run with these last few days (allegations against him/U.S cable stating that they reckon Rudd is inept blah blah blah)

What can't be denied though, is that there is currently an epic international shit storm in progress, and it appears that this guy's desire to report fundamentally important information to the world's public is the cause of it

Personally I reckon this is a really fucking big deal. I could be wrong, maybe it'll all die down soon and we'll forget about it. Somehow I doubt that. Read this........ http://www.theaustralian.com.au/in-dept ... 5967241332

gotd: Wing Loong, a long loved and eaten-at joint in Little China Town burned to the ground last night. I used to eat there twice a week, no question for months at a time. Then my partner decided he did;t like it that much but I still wanted in. Best sliced beef with szechuan sauce on special fried rice I've ever eaten. Now it's been reduced to smouldering rumble and I'm a sad rabbit :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

Stve, I thank you so much for introducing me to Tammy an all their wares. Such a delightful place, always left theren with a belly full, smiles and some cash left in my wallet.

I had a guilty dream like that the other night.

i dreamt that it was the zombie apocolpyse but everything was still running pretty normally, the army had militarised the city to protect everyone, but would only open up parts of the city at a time. We went to go to the bank which had been opened just for the day and along with getting cash out the bank was also selling meth for some reason. Anyways so I figured that if they were doing that it would be okay to smoke inside, so i lit one up and had a few puffs and then remembered that I was quitting and had just broken my 6 week or so without a ciggie.

anyways the upshot was in the dream i felt massively guilty and upset about the ciggie, much more upset than i was about being stuck in the middle of the zombie apocalypse.

I woke up and was really pissed off with myself until i realised i actually hadn't had a ciggie and didn't need to start stockpiling tinned food.
