Imaginary friends

Post by Will »

Did anyone here have an imaginary friend as a child? Or have a child who has an imaginary friend?

I need a case study for a story I'm doing.

Apparently, kids who have imaginary companions tend to be smarter and more creative. I didn't have one. :(

Anyone who can help, PM me.

I had imaginary enemies that i killed with my sonic laser stick weapon... I was called LAZERTRON, my enemies would drop from the sky with a massive flash of electricity... they looked like robo beasts from voltron... I never lost, I was too powerfull... my sonic laser weapon stick had many abilities...

true story... i did this out the back of my house for years and years... sometimes I would be out the back for over 3 hours at a time, my weapon was a broom handle, i did it from about age 8-14... good times.

Me and my friend used to hunt for the places where the Voltron lions had their lairs. If there was an 'x' (usually formed by a tree root or whatnot) we knew we'd found one. Never did end up digging any up though.

As far as I go, I used to pretend to be the whole Richmond Football Club or Sydney Swans playing against an opponent with commentating and all... kicking the ball around to myself in the court as a kiddie.

I did it till I was in year 10... in Perth, so year 9 over here (we're a year smarter in Perth).

Comentating footy was done till I was 16 even... crowd noises and all...

I had a lot of imaginary friends, I loved to read from when i was a small person (still do) and they would also come from the books I was reading.

I also had alot of aboriginal imag friends, used to kick around in the bush near my dads house alot.

I'm an only child prob explains why I seemed to always having something going on with drop dead fred.

I have a friend I play with every day. Not imaginary, though rarely seen in public.

Mate, most blokes do - although I don't know about every day. Still... I wouldn't go admitting it on a public forum....

i thought imaginary friends were a result of the child having a problem. Like not many friends (i.e. finds it hard to make friends), only child (not really a problem but solitary), abusive parents etc

i tried to have one but failed lol, stupid imagination had too much logic to allow something not real

i did.

i was about age 6-8 or 9 and his name was 'pond' and i think he was asian.
i was an only child then (my sis was born when i was 10)
and i lived in a pretty rough neigbourhood so wasnt allowed to stray far from home....

not sure why or when he left my reality, but pond and i used to do all kinds of things together, we even ran away from home with a suitcase full of teatowels once and hid under a tree, till we came home at dinner time cos we was hungry.

Yeah I had several, but I was a weird kid.

One was Ezekiel, aka Lord of the Flies, aka the Hive Mind.

He used to laugh at me doing naughty things and actively encourage me in some of them. Never judged me, and was a good all-round confidante.

Satan was another one, but he was less forgiving.

I still draw on them from time to time, but they seem a lot less 'real' these days.
