15 db or 25 db filter for earplugs?

Post by eviledward »

Hey Guys!

Newbie to the forums, but been reading a couple of very interesting posts!
One of them was regarding earplugs, and I noticed how everyone had their opinion on which filter was better for mixing.
Hoping to get some opinions or experiences with the 15 db and 25 db filters because I'm looking to get a pair for myself.
Guess I should point out that I'll be using these earplugs for mixing, as well as going to concerts and clubbing.
Looking forward to your opinions!

Cheers!

For general clubbing the Etymotic ER-20s are great (and cheap), but the handles protrude slightly from your ears so they're not ideal for doubling-up with headphones. You could probably snip the handles off, but that might change how well they work. If you're going pro I'd recommend getting custom-made ones as the other thread suggested... but just keep their cost in mind if you're taking them out for general clubbing + messiness. :)
