Market for Vinyl in Melb

Post by phonky »

Hey folks,
Came on here for some advice. I emigrated to melbourne last year and brought all my vinyl with me from the UK. I stopped DJing years ago so its been in storage all this time. Just to give you a rough outline, theres tons of house (DJq, carl craig, DJ Sneak), techno (detroit, Dave Clark type stuff), jungle (96-99 vintage), rave (early 90's Tek 9 , Metalheadz etc), some old school hip hop and various other bits and bobs.

Thing is, I've been out this game for so long now, is there actually any market for this stuff anymore or has everyone gone completely digital?
cheers

http://www.discogs.com to list your collection and bits for sale.

if any of the vinyl you own was limited (like most dance vinyl) there is a good chance its quite rare so if in good condition will accumulate value.

its either that or sell in bulk on ebay.

private message me your 96-99 jungle and I'll see how many I can take off your hands.

I know a few Detroit Techno freaks who might like a lookiloo at that stuff too.

We still love vinyl in Melbourne, there is indeed a market. If you've finished trying these avanues and you've still got some left, hit Ebay as well as discogs

True. It's more so the collectors that are buying it nowadays. Newer DJs are only interested in the digital age... :(
That said, i had a friend of a friend contact me about buying up some vinyl. He's in his teens and just purchased a new pair of decks and is having heaps of problems getting onto vinyl. Great to see some a keeping it alive! :)

OK I have separated out all the 90s jungle and breakbeat into a job lot of around 260 records (this is two large boxes). Expressions of interest are invited, PM if you would like to know more about the other stuff thats not on the list I posted - I just started from the front of the box when listing the other night, so its not like I only posted the good stuff. Its just the order it came in. These records have been in storage for the best part of 10 years, so the vast majority look better than they're years will suggest.

Old school Hip Hop and techno to follow, now that I am finally getting organised! :)

OK - has everyone gone digital now? I think maybe I should pack these back in the garage. Anyone got any suggestions about other australian websites to post on? (apart from ebay :)
