My friends were quite impressed with the number of people as well as the artwork.

I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the center of attention. I wanted the glory, I wanted the fame. I wanted the pretty girls to come up and say, "Hi, I see that you're good at Centipede."

Re: For Walls Gallery Opening Show.
Hey guys,
the group show is coming to an end, comes down on friday.
Please drop in anyday this week between 12-7pm to check it out, still lots of amazing cheap artworks for grabs.
Next show opens next Wednesday night 6-8pm with a friend of mine Nikai Van Garderen, "Hollows and Horizons'
think ethereal haunting landscapes on a large scale.
Come drink some more free grolsch with me.

Re: For Walls Gallery Opening Show.
hey guys - this is the show that opens next wednesday night.
Nikai Van Garderen “Hollows and Horizons”
Nikai is a local artist who has been a visual artist for over 20 years, working mainly as a painter. Having begun with a Steiner education and being very interested in colour theory, his artwork is about representing moods and emotions, although the colours he uses may not represent reality, but are more about conjuring a feeling.
With this new show, he explores both the horizon line in general, which is very much a representation of the future and where we are headed, as well as the darker inner workings of oneself, being the hollows of our own perception of ourselves.
The inspiration for the tanker images came from the idea of pirates rampaging in the red sea in medieval times, and the idea of something being so old and archaic yet still in action one our seas like pirates are. These artworks now hold a whole different relevance due to the BP spill, and the fascination of both natural disasters and mans impact on our future is now more relevant to him than ever.
“My work at present explores the landscape and its reflection of human emotions .I see myself in turbulent skies, dark and confused forests or sunny hillsides. The natural landscape is both so threatened and formidable it becomes a perfect tool to display my inner thoughts and reflections on what it is to be human.”
Please join us next Wednesday night July 28th from 6-9pm for the opening of ‘Hollows and Horizons’ by Nikai Van Garderen.
Show runs until Monday August 9th
For Walls Gallery
Inside Miss Libertine 34 Franklin St CBD
Open weekdays from 12-7pm and weekends by appointment.

Re: For Walls Gallery.
Next one is up already! Come join me on Wednesday night from 6-8pm.
After years of busking on melbourne’s streets, Pheelix’s first major solo-show was at McCulloch Gallery (now Broodbox) in 2005. Since then he has had numerous solo and group-shows, collaborated on several projects, and curated & promoted emerging artists and spaces.
This latest show is the culmination of the last few years researching and digesting two of paintings most well known figures, who shared not only a friendship but died in the same year: Francis Bacon (1909-1992) and Brett Whiteley (1939-1992).
Both comical and contemplative, this series of original works by Pheelix is not purely analytical or academic- but playful and personal, and aims to discuss ‘influence’ in contemporary arts-practice.
Opening at 6pm, Wednesday the 11th of August at the newly established FOR WALLS gallery upstairs in Miss-Libertines, 34 Franklin st.City.
Artist-Statement: PHEELIX on Bacon & Brett…
Francis Bacon famously remarked to Brett Whiteley at the opening of his
‘Christie-series’ in 1965, “You use me the way I use Velásquez...”
There is a grand tradition of artists reacting and rebounding off each other throughout history, not just in style and substance but directly referencing and re-mixing imagery.
I believe we are all enveloped in a collagé- not in an academic sense but personally, physically, creatively and socially.
My blend is of the spraycan and the past- Oils, illustration, construction and conversation. This body of work is not simply visual essays on these prominent artists; but more about my long-term digestion of their influence and a reflection on myself, as just another cog in the on-going Armageddon of now.
We all make history.

darling, this whole show is pretty much reds/oranges etc...
and its a bit more mumsy than just straight up street stuff, some are almost still lifes but with a street feel to them if that makes sense. and prices are v reasonable as he wants to get rid of it all, id highly reccommend getting down to this one!

I think you should round up the troops lady, as I currently booked out till feb, but im totally up for it if there is enough interest. Flick me an email to [email protected] and ill hit you with some detials.
The main thing is everyone's work has to be either framed or mounted nicely or printed on canvas. As in, i dont really think photos mounted only on foam core are really that appealing for people to buy....
