hey all you Kiwi's... where's all the good grub in New Zealand?

We are in Christchurch for a few days... went to C1 espresso for breakfast this morning which was awesome. Great coffee and really good food. Where else is tasty to eat in this town?

Probably going to head north and check out Nelson (wineries surrounding) and Wellie too. Any suggestions or hot food tips Kiwi folk?

haven't been to cookie in a year, that was gangsta ... in the end i think we had prawn spring rolls, cabbage rolls w/ shiitake, stir-fried squid, rice noodles w/ duck, yellow curry, snapper, some kind of snapper soup arrangement, pork belly (!!), baked scallops, five-spice chicken, soft-shell crab and some other bits between 5, haha. and a fruit platter.

went to that new movida aqui last night. was pretty pricey imo for what you got- some sort of banquet style of teeny tiny things. tasty but not for people who like a decent sized meal as is often the issue with tapas i suppose

sick wine list though. was right into that. would have happily had only wine for dinner

9 people and bill well over $1200 pretty steep for a monday night considering we smashed the hell out of it and stuffed ourselves at longgrain sat night for $100 a person

i'd got back for brekky at the terrazza but aqui... prob not so much..

we went to Mitte for breakkie last Monday. Fail and completley overrated.

The service is not good due to hipster staff who think they are too cool for school. This was the first place we went to after coming back from Hawaii where we had a consistently fantastic service experience everywhere from charming, friendly and polite staff. Not so here, the guy who served us was a condescending know it all who seemed to think he was far more important to the whole set up than actual customers and just seemed to think he was a bit special. This effect was compounded by 30 & 40 somethings patronage who also seemed to think they are pretty cool too. Food was fine, didn't blow me away.

In short, never going back.

Got post-travel blues much? Lol - probably the most unhappy I've ever heard you about anything! :D

To be fair I've been to Mitte a few times and always had very easy going service, good food and relaxed atmosphere.

I Carusi has been a little disappointing the last couple of times we have eaten there - still yum but not as yum as before (franchise approach may be taking it's toll?). Piazza 51 on Sydney Rd. beats it comfortably, nowadays.

Headed to Bala Da Dhaba (sp?) in Ripponlea for NYE dinner. Best Indian food i have had in Melbourne. Was utterly fantastic!
Group of 10 of us - we all got the set menu. SOO much food. Everything they brought out was phenomenal. Cannot recommend it enough!
Their buttered chicken was the standout by far.
NYD was a bit painful tho! haha

ROTFL!!!!!

I'd like to see a place that only serves food that has been lovingly rolled in Gwyneth Paltrow's yoga mat prior to being sat on by Madonna. Actually, Madonna would crush vital molcules of nutrition out of the food. Perhaps the Dali Lama would be a healthier option.
I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to be the center of attention. I wanted the glory, I wanted the fame. I wanted the pretty girls to come up and say, "Hi, I see that you're good at Centipede."
