Makes the season so much more interesting, particularly when your team is not playing. Great water cooler conversation starter too.

Reasons why you should sign up with SuperCoach:
* chance to win $1,000 per week
* chance to win a $50,000 Grand Prize
* chance to gloat over everyone else
* an interest in games your team is not playing in, or perhaps an interest in footy in general
* there's a good chance you live in Melbourne. Melbourne is footy.
* something to talk about around the water cooler at work on Monday
* it's a great way to waste time at work
* because it's fun, addictive and FREE.

8 spots left in our league. I'd rather they be filled up with MB.com heads, and not just filled with randoms when entries close.

Locked the team in over the weekend - a few adjustments to make but not looking too bad.

How good is it having FOOTY BACK!!

Tough luck to the Tiges on Saturday night - showed a lot of potential in the first half. Blues are looking better this year aswell I think. Murphy about to sign a three year deal!!

Go Blues.

Go Feigan Hell.

Yep. Pretty sweet having footy back, even if it is the 'Who Cares Cup'.

Well done Feigs, you guys played well - and the Pies just made us embarrassed.

I know all teams had some quality players out - but if I can offer up an excuse, we had NO midfield at all. No Daledio, Cotchin, Martin, Jackson, Foley, Greig, Houli, Graham. No-one. No Riewoldt either. I'm finding some solace in this.

I joined SuperCoach Pro this morning.... :tard:

Can be hard trying not pick a lot of your own team... if I can offer any advice regarding your own club players - pick the ones you think will have a stand out year, particularly the young ones - as they will most likely increase in value. Use your intimate knowledge of your team to your advantage. You don't want to pick too many players from any one team, because if that team has a bad day out - you're whole SuperCoach score is going to suck. Not sure how it's going to pan out with the bye this year either.

SuperCoach is just share market trading for footy nuts.

Aah, you've played before... cool.

Re: bye. They've allowed more bench players to be selected this year - more emergencies. But the cap appears to be the same as last year, 10 Mil. No wonder it's so hard to pick a team this year!

I would have thought that trades will count after round 1.
So you can freely trade up until lockout on the evening of the first game of round 1.
Value of players on the other hand will not change until after round 3 (or 4 if that player has had a bye already)

Liz, you should really try to only have a max of 4 players from one side and def not all in the same line (for example, dont have the whole Hawthorn forward line of Franklin, Rioli, Hale, Roughhead)
Because when Hawthorn have a bye, you only have 3 bench spots, so there is a guaranteed donut score (player who scores 0) plus if you have any injuries down there or a rookie who doesn't get game time, there is another donut.

I have 4 Hawthorn players and 4 Freo, i also have 6 Gold coast players, however most of them will be traded once they get me a bit of coin.

Interestingly, Fremantle and Brisbane have both their byes during one of the super bye rounds (5 x rounds with 3 teams having a bye)
During these rounds (4,5,6,16,19) no supercoach league games will be played, so this essentially means that you wont lose a Brisbane or Freo player to a bye for a league game (against fellow MB.com'ers)

It confusing i know.

Heres a list of the byes

Round 1 Gold Coast
Round 2 Adelaide
Round 3 North Melbourne
Round 4 Brisbane, St. Kilda, Western Bulldogs
Round 5 Melbourne, Sydney, West Coast
Round 6 Fremantle, Geelong, Hawthorn
Round 7 Collingwood
Round 8 Carlton
Round 9 Gold Coast
Round 10 Essendon
Round 11 Richmond
Round 12 Port Adelaide
Round 13 Collingwood
Round 14 St. Kilda
Round 15 West Coast
Round 16 Adelaide, Fremantle, Melbourne
Round 17 Hawthorn
Round 18 Port Adelaide
Round 19 Brisbane, Richmond, Sydney
Round 20 Western Bulldogs
Round 21 North Melbourne
Round 22 Geelong
Round 23 Carlton
Round 24 Essendon

Pretty sure that's always been the case.

You can trade unlimited until the first value changes are in.

I'll take a look later on. These "super bye" are farked... bring on 2012 when GWS enter the comp to balance the scales.

okay good reminder, i learnt that last year after having Cyril, Franklin and Roughead in the forward so i didn't do that this year, but i just realised i had 4 hawthorn players in the midfield. i now have one hawthorn player in each section, but two in the midfield. Couldn't pass up either player in that section to give up.

okay looking at the spread, i have kept it to one or two players of the one team, but otherwise its all a mix so hopefully byes won't affect me too much.

and thanks for the tactic

Pretty sure that's always been the case.

You can trade unlimited until the first value changes are in.
Trades
You can make unlimited trades on your initial team entry. Your team will be locked in and entered at the start of the next upcoming round. You'll then be able to trade up to TWO players on the conclusion of each round. However, you'll only have a total of 24 trades for the entire Season. It's entirely your decision as to when and how you use them. Be sure to choose carefully, as all changes are FINAL and cannot be reversed. Player trades will not be transferable from one round to the next - you can only make a maximum of 2 TRADES per round, from the 24 that are available for the entire Season. Trading periods will generally be open for the entire week, up until the start of the next round's games.
and this
Summary - Team Editing/trading in your squad

•Edit your starting line-up of 22 players prior to the start of each round by making trades and substitutions;

•You can make unlimited trades on entry, then 2 per round up to a maximum of 24 for the Season;

•Select three emergencies to replace any non-scoring players on your starting line-up;

•Name your captain and vice captain each round, to receive Double points.
Cant see anything about unlimited trades to round 4, also that would be impossible to administer because of the byes, some players wont go up in price until round after round 4

Not sure about the unlimited trades - but isn't it that you scores start from round one but you don't start actually playing against people till round 4. Might be round 3 now with the odd number of teams.

No this season is completely different to last, read up on the rules.

Last year there was 22 rounds and 16 teams

This year there is 17 teams and 24 rounds so there is changes and a whole swag of byes.

It takes awhile to get your head around it and there is all kinds of new tactics to employ.
You also need to decide on whether you want to win your league or whether you want overall points (to potentially win the cash prizes)
While there is no league games, your scores still count during the superbyes (round 4,5,6,16,19) towards the overall points so if you want to win overall points, you have to make sure you dont have players that clash.

I feel asleep at "read up on the rules"....

Apparently player values have all been downgraded by a percentage to allow for the extra men in the team. Hence why no increase in budget.

i think as long as you keep to one player (two max) per section from the one team, you should be okay, as you will be able to put them on the bench and move another player in for the bye yeah? that is what i plan to do anyways
