mac help!

Hi all,,,,

Had a bit of a scout and couldn't find the answer to my woes....

I got a new macbook pro 13" a few days ago, due to my old macbook pro (1st gen 15") dying.

I have removed the HDD from the old machine (which wouldn't even turn on).

I plugged the HDD into my PC (running windows 7) and it works (using macdrive 8 ). Now I would like to use migration assistant to get my apps and files from the disk. I have shared the disk and I can see it in finder on my new mac. However, when I run migration assistant on the machine and choose (from time machine or other disk) it doesn't find the virtual drive, or any drives for that matter.

How do I get all my stuff onto the new machine without having to painstakingly copy everything manually?

chuck the HDD into a 2.5" enclosure or get a sata->usb unit and plug it into your new mac.

also, migration assistant bad news. take the opportunity to start fresh!

If you think migration is a bad idea then I guess I can just transfer the files manually with the way it's set up now.

Good opportunity to cut out the dead wood. When Migration Assistant fucked out on mine, it meant I left a bunch of useless shit on the old lappy. New start ftw.
