Hiya, pt II
Hiya, pt II
Well, I'm ready for part 2 now.
Now you already know I like skating, graf, a little laughter and travel..
What I'd like to know is if there's already a thread with people getting into where they'r from...
Like I told you: been to Melbourne twice and visited these lovely and not so lovely places while there:
Malvern: stayed there with Ben (worked @ M2O and did some graf) & Damien (techno producer, forgot his alias tho)
Prahran: hung out at the original Ollie B store on the first floor of a tiny mall. It had two recordstores (if you count Ollie B's being a store, as it was more of a stall in the hallway between the hairdresser and the other recordshop). Hung out at M2O's who at the time had their own line of gear as well..
Camberwell
Brighton
Doncaster ()
Rosebud
Philip Island
St Kilda (St Kilda fest was a mad rave on my birthday in feb 96, totally off my face!!)
Ashwood (!!): nice graf but dull as fxxx
and did some travelling into NSW, SA and what's the state above NSW again??
coolio...

Last time was 2002, Prahran was nothing like it used to! It seemed to have gotten eaten up by Toorak's Hi street antics, which is a shame...it used to be all second hand stores, pawn shops, young people opening their own designer shops, hairdressers, skateshops, record stores....
First thing I noticed getting off at Prahran station was the street being owned by trendy bars, Esprit Clothing, trendy shoe stores, blah blah...gone was the Mall (the one wih OB's nad the hairshop groundfloor used to be a second hand shop and a little snack bar with the best BLT's around!) )on the corner...I'm terrible at remembering place names and such...but it seemed like a terrible shame....
St Kilda was still rocking of some sort though..
dec 95-march 96: stayed for little under four months, mostly in Malvern/Prahran
2002: stayed for six weeks and did a tour of SA and NSW up to Noosa Heads..
my sister lives in Doncater which was the main reason to travel down..

I'm from Antwerp, Belgium (Europe)
Forgot to mention I became a regular at the Lounge the first time around..random used to be there and this girl dj (forgot the name) on saturdays..place used to be packed and the balcony in summertime was lush!
Raspberry Sub Zero's!
Also a night in Footscray was memorable for hosting a huge warehouse jungle party and celebrating my 25th b-day there...day after was St Kilda fest and I was soo off my face I went into a drugstore and grabbed about 20 baseball caps and started handing them out t everyone...Couldn't remember a thing the day after, but hanging around the bowl refreshed my memory as people were whispering 'that's that crazy dude from last night'
Used to love the bowl too...had a wicked little snake run and a harsh handrail to slam off of...

Yeah, you could be talking about J'Nett, who i believe also played at Purveyors.dice wrote:so anymore stories to share? Could it be there were more girl dj's around at the time? I keep hearing this little voice in my head going 'jeanette', but not sure if that was the lady's name...?
They were good times indeed and I was also in attendence almost every week, even though i was underage at the time and had to flash the bouncers a smile to get in!
