beautiful looking! would be way too much work for me though.

can you imagine how much fur they'd leave on the couch? and grooming them would be a bitch!

family friends of ours who live in nepal have a pet lynx. it's mum was killed by poachers and it was injured when it was young, it's back leg has never recovered properly so it wouldn't be able to hunt in the wild. they've had it since it was tiny and it's completely tame. i haven't met it but my mum has and has shown me photos, it's incredibly beautiful.

looks like this:

Sorry guys, but importing a new and improved killing machine to Australia is very fucking selfish.

I have sliced open the bellies of already huge feral cats. Their diet? our native birds and lizards. I have seen feral cats swimming to islands to prey on helpless fledglings and I have watched a feral cat decimate a population of bilbies and bettongs that we introduced to what we had hoped was a cat-proof enclosure in outback SA.

What environmental managers do not need is a bigger fucking cat to have to dose with poison.

totally! would never support them being imported to aust. they're beautiful animals but people would be irresponsible with them and it would end badly.

our two cats are indoor only cats and will remain so, a very big part of the reason being the effect that cats have on native wildlife. they are perfectly happy with the space they have and don't show any real interest in going outside.

did anyone read the article the other day about nillumbik council are looking at introducing legislation that all cats in it's council area will have to be kept indoors? good idea i reckon.

not all big cats are native killers, our boy is bigger then most small dogs, and he is fine....

Charlie, I don't mind cats that have responsible owners, but there is a large amount of concern in the scientific community about the introduction of a cat with a large proportion of, well, 'large' cat genes. The gene pool that this cat has been bred from is partially sourced from wild cats.

Also, your boy isn't feral.

It only takes one fertile cat to get into the system. Which only takes one irresponsible owner...

i don't think it's a bad thing that a cat hunts. i wouldn't say they're killers - they're just doing what is completely natural to them.

it's up to the owners to control cats that are big hunter, and a lot aren't very responsible.

it's kinda like the poor dogs that get put down after attacking the small child that they live with that has been pulling their tail. those dogs should just not be bread and put into those situations as they're just doing what is instinctual to them. it's almost animal cruelty in my mind as the dog is just going to end up being killed for doing what it naturally does.
