High Contrast presents the High Society Tour! It's Sjooshi's Christmas party and Santa will be rinsing his stockings with presents for all!!

High Contrast is a young Cardiff based DJ/producer specialising in soulful, vocal drum'n'bass. His productions fuse many musical styles from jazz and funk to film soundtracks and disco. It was J.Majik's 'Arabian Nights' which turned a 17-year old Lincoln onto drum'n'bass (in his own words "he fell in love with the music") - drawn in, not by the beats or the bass, but the whole soundscape. He immediately set about trying to make music, and although it took him a year to even work out the basic structures he was soon making tunes that were full of funk and original ideas.

Lincoln continued to pursue his interest in film - at the time of writing he is in his final year at Newport Film School - but while mastering Cubase, he also got into DJing. He was resident at the Forum in Cardiff spinning drum'n'bass in the backroom of an R&B/Garage night for a year, and it was at that time that he started thinking about fusing the more soulful vocals with drum'n'bass. He has been DJing and promoting clubs in Cardiff since then, and currently plays at the excellent Silent Running nights at the Welsh Club. Lincoln also works in Cardiff's respected Catapault record shop. It was here that he met London Elektricity who immediately checked for what he was doing. Before long he had been signed up to do an album for Hospital and the grrreat Grooverider was playing his tunes. High Contrast is at the forefront of the scene ˆ as both a producer and DJ" Expect a dancefloor explosion of beats, basslines, funk and enough soul to bring a whole new vibe to your ride" This boy isgoing to be very, very busy"

I have been to my fair share of revolver gigs, but the High Contrast gig was up there with the most packed, AND hot of the lot...

AND IT ROCKED!!!

totally sauced by the bar and viben' large.
Not sure I will get to this gig cause of a wedding, but would recommend to any1.

I've had a lot of good times at Vulva, but it's just the memory of the couple of times I've been there by myself at about 11am and drugs have worn off. The horror, the horror.

Also it gets stankin' hot and is usually full of fuckshits.

And yes there are lots of nice people who work there, usually against there better judgement tho.

haha i remember that gig. I remember seeing you Brb up the front, massive grin on your face. It was way too hot though, but a testament to High Contrast that everyone stuck around.
I got my ticket yesterday  Can't wait :D

I too am going to said gig. It'll be good to see a full High Contrast set this time.

I couldn't hang around at Revolting for very long last time 'cos it was a school night.

So bring on Friday week! Perhaps I'll even leave the POW this time with my face intact!

You're not going to this one are you Will? :P

As bRb and mk are well aware, HC's gig @ Revolver last year proved to be the turning point in my musical tastes - he is the reason I've now got a nice collection of drum and bass vinyl.

I'm far too excited :D
