Sniping is heaps better for the punters and stops things going for crazy prices. I have never sold anything, or ever plan to cos I hate customers.

for the punters who use them, yeah.

the whole eBay thing is pretty fucked really when you get down to it. eBay is the only one who wins out of it all, as they make a percentage on everything.

eBay rocks

where else can you get a brand new Fossil watch for less than a third of the shop price (including shipping)??

also great for spring cleaning - people pay good money for the oddest things you can't imagine anyone would want

I've been known to use a sniping service

I dont have a problem with that,...its a business, they are there to provide a service and make profit. If it wasnt for ebay I'd have so much stuff hanging around my house that I dont use anymore. The bidding system allows you to get the best price 'depends on what your selling, for electronics you always do well', and alot of people use ebay so you always going to do better there than selling it on the trading post. Ive sold over 30 things on it....its a very good service.

yes you can.

FWIW: my comments before were about eBay as an organisation rather than as a merchant.

You would still get charged the listing price if it doesn't sell.

And they changed the rules about 6 months ago - you can now only set a reserve for cars and houses I think.

You can set a higher starting price instead though, but you might not get any bids on it..

bought pair of jeans, brand new reduced from $300 to about $70.
Was pretty pissed at the time though, as the girl who was selling them had problems with her bank account and it took about 2 months to receive my purchase.

I remember in 2003 some guy put an old Soviet Mig-23 on sale. More recently, thre was a guy who put invisible shirts on sale. The product photos were him just walking around all model-like without a shirt on.

I think it would have worked better if it was a female.. but anyway.

Someone in Germany was trying to sell a Nokia as a .jpg (image file) for full price.

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 6356227671

The description for non germans:
NOKIA 7280 for sale as .jpg
Private sale, no warranty or return!
Do only bid if you really agree!
If you have questions, send an email!

he got banned for it.

Looking for a powerbook and digital camera myself (some are using reserves on the digital cameras btw), and it's quite exciting.

I haven't made a purchase yet (was outbid twice), but it looks like I can get a new 6 mp camera from the US for $200 cheaper than here (incl delivery) 8)

I don't bother bidding, I go straight for the Buy Now option.

scored my watch for half the price and it was delivered from Southern California before the Aussie shop said they could get it from Sydney

i have sold a few things. But had to go in and change my card details on their records because every 2 months they would say I had no tpaid and charge me again, with a late fee, as well as the original fee. I ahve credit card records showing my payment from June last year.
I have sent them a dozen emails, and a letter even to their offices in Europe, but they still tried to charge me again.
I got over it.
I want to sell more shit, but now i have no account.

No 320 of these tunages for sale anywhere, and there's no way I'd disrespect Kemal and the Sinthetix lads by copying a mp3 to wax with out any purchase. Serious tunage? Fukn oath, only my most sought after record EVER, I mean, look, its by KEMAL... AND SINTHETIX(ROB F & IMPULSE) is there a better dream combo????
