of the epic variety.

Coen brothers are awesome.

1984 Blood Simple
1987 Raising Arizona
1990 Miller's Crossing
1991 Barton Fink
1994 The Hudsucker Proxy
1996 Fargo
1998 The Big Lebowski
2000 O Brother, Where Art Thou?
2001 The Man Who Wasn't There
2003 Intolerable Cruelty
2004 The Ladykillers
2007 No Country for Old Men
2008 Burn After Reading

That's a pretty damn impressive array of movies. There's only one or two in there that aren't really great films. Watched Blood Simple a few months ago and its really really good. Impressive debut. Coens are two of the most original film makers / writers around.

Saw UP the other day. Not the 3d version tho, D'oh. Awesome movie. Pixar rule. :smt007 Did feel weird to be giggling to the same parts as the kids were. I know thats the point, but i guess never thought about it.

ladykillers totally lost its way about half way through too but that's still a pretty good strike rate out of all those films.

Only good thing abut 'Burn After Reading' was Brad Pitt's role IMO, and even that got cut short.

'The Big Lebowski' and 'Fargo' are major wins though, and in that order for me.

Watched Harlem Nights last night. Had a few good laughs but the best character for me was the madam.

Also watched Robin Hood: Men In Tights the other day. Terrible stuff. Mel Brooks lost it after Space Balls for me. I don't like being able to predict where the "laughs" are gonna come from...my eyes hurt from rolling.

They're jumping on the natural disaster bandwagon, much like terrorist movies jumped on the 9/11, New York under siege bandwagon. It's a shame visually amazing movies are so corny. I'd like to see that on the big screen but the rest of the movie wouldn't be worth it.

judeo-christian apocalyptic hangover...

Even excusing the boring regurgitated theme, the acting was completely unbelievable, and the action was completely ridiculous. The writers and directors must have been high off their tits when they came up with this crap

I like that. Judeo-christian apocalyptic hangover...........might use that.

But the movie?? Shit I will go see it, just to see stuff destroyed, mayhem, just general calamity does it for me. Natural diasters are COOL!

Its optimistic cause there aint going to be no sudden end of the world, it will all turn to shit gradually until the whole world is desert and the human race is living like rodents. Bring on destruction!

Like a mass euthanasia.

Finally saw District 9

Started out really good, great set up and interesting premise but halfway through just got really boring.

It just turned into a bog standard action movie IMO ( pretty cool action none the less). Would have liked a bit more character development

And as stated earlier in this thread, The CG was amazingly well integrated to the movie.

'Mean Creek'
slow, beautifully shot film in the mountains of Oregon about bullying revenge gone wrong.
The young actors in this movie are incredible, the story totally gets you because it could so easily happen like that, to any kids.
Really intense, a bit depressing, but a fantastic movie.
4 out of 5

'Synecdoche, New York'
The cover of this said 'one of the most ambitious films of all time' and I have to agree. It spans the entire adult life of this acclaimed director (phillip seymore hoffman- who is alwasy the guy in 'happiness' to me no matter what role he is in) but he actually directs this set of his life as its happening, going over the past, casting characters in it and having his real life mix with the drama until it becomes an entire otherworld, and reality and acting is one and the same.
I really enjoyed it but did not really know what the fuck was going on for half of it, and its two and a half hours long, but worth it.
Would watch again.
