I went to docklands a few years ago to photograph earth hour... was LOL, not a single bit of difference

What they should do is just cut the power to all of melbourne for the hour..hospitals and all other utilities can run on back up generators for the hour, so next to no disruption. Of course they would probably say that it would be more expensive to actually cut the power for such a short time than to keep it running..

The other problem is..Earth hour = Looting hour :p

in qld its no smoking near any doorways or outside tables. so you cant smoke and drink anywhere, nor smoke and eat anywhere.

one would think that the govt that implements such a plan would provide ashtrays for said shunned smokers but - NO!

so the butts get thrown on the ground and into the waterways and kill turtles.

grrr.

I see your point, but TBH the people you're referring to would for the most part throw their butts on the ground whether there was an ashtray provided or not. If you do it in one situation, you'll probably do it in most others too
