oh fuck yes!! been looking for something mad round this way ... north island is solid but not amazing, dench is always a zoo and julio's is crap, all the coffees i've had from there have been borderline undrinkable (good custard tarts tho).
had the crumbed coddled egg, black pudding and anchovy salad, which came on a bed of lardons ... so so good, egg was perfect! coffee isn't as good as min lokal tbh but still pretty decent. outdoor area is mint when it's sunny too.
a++++++++++ would go again, repeatedly
plus their site is jokes:

In other news, I'm digging my new healthy brekky option:
4 egg whites
1 whole egg
Diced red and green capsicum
Diced tomatoes
Chopped chives
s&p
_scramble that shit up
_optional sour dough if I want some carb love
_optional bit o' Grandmother ham if it's about.
Hardly groundbreaking - but it's tasty, and I feel good after eating it.

Re: ULTIMATE BREAKFASTS
i dont enjoy breakfast as a meal really. i have it, but its a chore.
i especially hate going out for breakfast. cant think of anything worse than sitting in some cafe in brunswick or carlton surrounded by tossers sitting there smugly patting their staffy, reading the leader, not controlling their little shit of a toddler and talking about how good the coffee is here and where else its good dont you think.
An up and go and some fruit and I'm done. No interaction with self important ironic moustached melbourne hospo staff required.

Bad cholesterol in there right? It's a waste, but I don't need that stuff in me. I just want the protein from the whites.

Re: ULTIMATE BREAKFASTS
used to be just weetbix at work. then it was nothing for ages when i started at the tennis. now it's smoothie and some avo toast at the cafe (some half decent perks when you own a cafe huhu)
breakky out at cafes has been ruined by many a time attempting to go somewhere on a saturday or sunday and everywhere being rammed. if i was one of those people that dont seem to have to go to work during the week i would go out for brekky more. until then, a smoothie and avo on toast it is!

other things you can use egg yolks for are Japanese Golden Sauce to put on your blue steak sliced up nice and finely....delish!
Ingredients
3 egg yolks
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
2 1/2 tablespoons white miso paste
1 cup vegetable oil
salt to taste
1 pinch freshly ground white pepper
1/4 teaspoon grated yuzu (Japanese orange), lemon or lime peel
1.In a medium bowl, beat egg yolks and lemon juice with a wooden spoon. Beat in vegetable oil a few drops at a time, beating well after each addition until the mixture begins to emulsify. When all of the oil has been incorporated, stir in the miso, salt, white pepper and grated yuzu. Refrigerate in a squeeze bottle for convenient application.

Re: ULTIMATE BREAKFASTS
"One word of warning. Never eat egg yolk raw since they can be a source for Salmonella food poisoning; but keep eating eggs in moderation."
From wikipedia...
Contamination
A health issue associated with eggs is contamination by pathogenic bacteria like Salmonella enteritidis. Contamination of eggs exiting a female bird via the cloaca may also occur with other members of the Salmonella genus, so care must be taken to prevent the egg shell from becoming contaminated with fecal matter. In commercial practice, eggs are quickly washed with a sanitizing solution within minutes of being laid. The risk of infection from raw or undercooked eggs is dependent in part upon the sanitary conditions under which the hens are kept.
Health experts advise people to refrigerate eggs, use them within two weeks, cook them thoroughly, and never consume raw eggs.[25] As with meat, containers and surfaces that have been used to process raw eggs should not come in contact with ready-to-eat food.
A study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 2002 (Risk Analysis April 2002 22(2):203-18) suggests the problem is not as prevalent as once thought. It showed that of the 69 billion eggs produced annually, only 2.3 million are contaminated with Salmonella — equivalent to just one in every 30,000 eggs — thus showing that Salmonella infection is quite rarely induced by eggs. However, this has not been the case in other countries where Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhimurium infections due to egg consumptions are major concerns.[32][33][34] Egg shells act as hermetic seals that guard against bacteria entering, but this seal can be broken through improper handling or if laid by unhealthy chickens. Most forms of contamination enter through such weaknesses in the shell. In the UK, the British Egg Industry Council award the lions stamp to eggs that, among other things, come from hens that have been vaccinated against Salmonella.
...interesting, does this mean runny eggs are potentially bad?

Re: ULTIMATE BREAKFASTS
Heard Miff do a funny bit on Northside (and Melbs generally) breakfast a couple of weeks back. 12 years ago our age group was lining up for clubs (the ones that arn't underground beat heads with mad hook ups) and each week saying, there is no way I will do this again, but the very next week, being back in that line and waiting to get the club. Get inside and it's packed and everyone seems to talk about which other club is also worth being at.
NOW...
People line up for friggin breakfast. Probably the same people we lined up with for clubs with a decade ago. Get inside and it is and it seems everyone is talking about the other cafe worth going to.

i'm not a fan of cafe breakfasts either
that sandwich in the pic i posted may look plain, but imo it smashes the pants off anything i've eaten out
for the cost of eggs bene or whatever, a juice and a coffee from your average city/inner suburb joint, i could make about a dozen of the things
i've always been totally underwhelmed with people's breakfast recommendations
