marked as read/unread

Post by deviant »

hey,

since the upgrade I've noticed that unread threads stay marked as unread indefinitely.... previously they would only be marked as unread if they contained new posts since my last visit..

I think I'd prefer to see a list of threads with new content rather than a list of threads I have not opened (half of which I am probably never going to open).

happening to anyone else?

Yeah I think this is happening to me too.. or something like that anyway. It's definitely not the "posts since last visit" way it used to be. On one hand it's good that if you open a browser then accidentally close it again, you don't lose all the new posts, but on the other hand, I don't read a lot of new threads because I'm not interested in them. Maybe there's a preference somewhere?

it's a global preference - previously, your 'new posts' was stored in a session and associated with a browser cookie. this session state is now stored in the database.

i'm happy to change this to the previous behaviour, but what do people think? any preference either way?
