On Jan 14, 2005 the Melbourne Beats crew along with some 700+ people raised around $17,000 for the Asia Quake & Tsunami appeal. This forum is an archive of the organisational discussion for the event.

Yeah but they have said they won;t be prosecuting if its done under good faith. The only problem I could see this having is with some of the newspapers that we're trying to place ads with. They may ask if we are authorised collectors and hold back on advertising cause we aren't????

I think as long as we make sure the money goes to the ARC by the Monday (because of weekend) and we have the lists/ accountability we have planned for collecting at the door, they'd have no reason to prosecute us. In my opinion, the people effected by this disaster can't wait the 28 days for us to get some registration, so lets just make sure all money taken is recorded and done above board, so they have nothing to complain about. I already have templates made up for this to happen.

Will that mean we can claim extra days off work? Homer Simpson style, when he had his own religion... let start thinking of some. They should all fall on a Friday or Monday....
