Melodyne: DNA Technology: Melodyne Editor

Post by Direkt »

Melodyne's amazing DNA technology was announced at 2008's Musicmesse... last week at NAMM, it was announced how it will be released.

It looks like the first stage will see DNA technology implanted into Melodyne Editor - a new updated version of Melodyne Plugin.

We should start to see stock of these in Australia around March sometime.

For those interested: http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=dna

In short, DNA (Direct Note Access) enables you to isolate any note within a chord and delete it, pitch shift it, shift it along the timeline - or add additional notes. Pretty powerful plugin.

Thats some serious bizness. Looks pretty wikkid. I could waste a whole lot of time with that and enjoy every second of it.

I should add that any purchases of Studio after 12th March 2008 get a fee download of Plugin, this will include a free download of Editor once it becomes available.

I'm guessing the plugin is only compatible with Studio.

No, not at all.

Studio is the stand-alone big boy.

Plugin will run in pretty much any host application as a standard plugin. You can load as many instances of plugin as your computer will handle. And you don't need to own Studio in order to run Plugin.

And if you purchase and register Plugin now, you're entitled to a free download of editor (DNA) once it becomes available.

Thats good news. Not sure if I can take advantage of that off right now. I'm mothballing my home studio but as soon as I have somewhere to set up again - first priority will be buying Fruity Loops 8.

I'd love to meet the engineer that wrote the signal processing algorithm in this software. It's not often a technology comes along that you look at and think, "Magic. No other explanation."
