MAC Address

My housemate is deleting peoples MAC addresses during the day and preventing us from downloading. The problem is the modem is in his room and he has changed all the admin passwords for the Router.

Is there a way i can possibly bypass this so i don't have to worry about him kicking everyone in the house off?

not if there's connections controls filtered by mac address. unless you can find out one of the allowed addresses and spoof that, of course.

Spoofing the MAC would be the most straight forward. You should also be able to change your MAC address, perhaps you could set it up to change periodically.

Even better, sit down with your housemate and work out a new internet plan where you don't have to bother. Use uTorrent with scheduler to D/L in off peak. Sorted.

I do use Utorrent on the off peak. That and we have 90 gig a month. He is obsessive compulsive though.

He does it to all housemates though. He will just randomly disconnect people and then say its an error with his modem when we go into the router we can see he has locked peoples mac addresses.

So if i can dupe his he will never disconnect me.

buy your own router/modem and unplug his... keep it in your room and ban all MAC address's except for yours

Shut ur tits. I've already spoken to him... He fibs and says he doesn't know what is up...

MAC spoofing isn't really going to magically make the problem go away though, it's just going to make it unusable for him too.

As long as he has control of the router and has time to invest in keeping you out you are pretty much screwed.
