Traktor Kontrol S4 - WANT NOAW PLEES!!!

Post by mrj »

Was bound to happen, the Kontrol X1 was so popular a fully integrated mixer couldn't be far behind.

http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... ontrol-s4/

No idea on pricing, you'd expect somewhere in the $1000 - $2000 mark surely.

I absolutely love my Kontrol X1, I'm definitely gonna be getting this.

Some strange design concepts with having the platters up top with buttons and rotaries below (easily bumped).

Don't think the layout would be an issue. Same layout as the amatuer hour M-Audio 2channel version of the intergrated unit and never knocked any controls on that.

If it is less than 1500 I reckon I would consider. Given it has audio interface I think it will be 2K+

I agree Direkt, platters should be on bottom so you can easily access the controls above while using a platter.

With the platters on the top your arm would obscure the controls from view and use.

USD$899 I believe. Very Keen, would be interesting to see how portable it really is though- If it's like carrying a 1200 then its a car only deal really.

sync works 100% spot on every time on my copy of Traktor Pro. The only way sync will not work is if your track markers are not in the right spot, something that can be fixed easily on the fly in about 5 seconds.

oh yeah? never knew you could do that, I'd just used the auto ones which tend to give kinda random bpms and weird starts to the bar. I suppose that makes more sense then hah.

heheh yeh if you don't adjust them then it definitely wont work. I find you need to adjust the markers for probably about 50% of tracks. If its a broken beat (particularly drum and bass or dubstep) or it doesn't have a beat at the start then you're pretty much certain that you need to go back and fix em. is dead easy to do tho.

you can multiply the bpm too, so if it's a d&b track and its pegged it at 80bpm you can press teh x2 button and it will change it to 160. You can adjust this on the fly too which is good for when you are mixing say a garridge tune into some dubstep or something.

Yup - same with Torq MRJ. I taught someone to DJ in under 10 minutes using the sinc button. Once they understood how to read the wave, what the EQ's did and how to press the sync button they pretty much could mix a 4/4 tune in under 10 mins.

Cheat machines.

yeah i grabbed mine yesterday. have spent a fair bit of time onit today.

it is indeed AWESOME!

i've still yet to delve into the sampling side ofit too much, just a little. likewise for loop recording. big potential tho

but overall it is miles ahead of traktorpro+midi controller setups (x1 etc) - i find i literally do not need to touch the lappy keyboard/trackpad at ALL!!
the folder/tune browsing functionality are awesome. hotcues are easy to

sound quality and levels shit all over just about any traditional mixer ive used too, probably because the software auto-gains it as with previous traktor, and now because the mixer is in the same piece of kit it works really well IMO.
the cueing is also great; i'm glad they included the cue mix knob, i hate mixers that don't let you fade between master out and selected chan - especially a pain if no monitors or shit ones...

the filters sound great too; easy access and use, one per channel and really. found you can even filter ALL your samples in deck C or D too by activating the deck and then turnign the loop knobs! likewise for samples volume.

so far it is OUTdoing my expectations, amazing

yeah a bit less as storedj member - roadcase is like 270 or something i'm getting that too when it is in stock well worth it (lappy stand slides out from back in perfect posy).

ill also have to hav a go plugging my cdjs into the lineins on the mixer too once i make tablespace, will be cool when timecode gets added too could have 4deck 2with cdjs 2with midi/jogs..

am also gonna give syncing midi clock between trakpro and traks4 with a mate (2lappy setup); possible 8decks :P. or maybe one s4, one abletr0n

also ive seen comments from ppl dissing it as another piece of 'bedroom dj plastic' but its totally feasible to take this to gigs: easier to setup than a soundcard by far - all you need is ONE usb cable and ONE RCA input to mixer. i guess finding the space to put it could be an issue but can just whack it on top of the club mixer lol

Hey all,
I want to give as a xmas gift some lessons or a short course in djing with the new Traktor... for a beginner dj!
Any ideas? Even private ones would be fine, just need someone who knows a lot about it and can pass it on to a dummy... hehe
Thanks :retzielikes:

how good is it :D

i still need to spend a lot of time getting used to the sampledecks i've only dabbled so far.
need to build up an organised library of loops, one shots etc.

i love the fact that you can switch to deck d sample deck and scratch, filter, eq, fx the channel or in a limited capacity each individual sample!
so sick
