Wav editing software for mac

Post by andy_hoffman »

I've been using Adobe Audition on my windows laptop for a while now and it's awesome. Really easy to use and has multi-track and wav editing capabilities and export as different file types etc... now i've just ordered a macbook pro and it seems there is no Audition for mac so what is a suitable replacement?

i use fission for fairly simple editing (trimming, levels, etc) and export - works a treat.

I just started using BIAS Peak Pro 5 for OSX.

I browsed a bunch of forums and it seemed to be what a lot of people on OSX were using and most seemed to think it was the better program going around for Mac. I'm sure there is others though.

i'm happy with fission, but it is fairly basic - i assume audition is a LOT more comprehensive, so it's probably not your best bet if you use audition's advanced features.

Yeah fission looks a bit basic. I'll check out BIAS Peak Pro 5. Dunno why adobe can't have audition for both platforms! they do with most of their other software!

Wavelab 7 is coming out soon and it's available on OSX so i might have to get that then. Looks the business!

rogue amoeba's "fission" is a good audio editor and it's free. :)

"soundbooth" is the audio editor that adobe released for both windows and mac os x.

i used to use bias' "peak" for ages - good bit of software.

try them all if you can, i guess.

Can't believe noones mentioned Audacity, fairly basic but free, and good.

I also use Peak, and it is the business.

Just picked up Adobe Audition CS5.5 which is finally available for mac. It's available here. I'd been using the Beta for a few months now and there's been some improvements. It's far better than the old windows versions i used in the past.
