How to wirelessly stream audio

Hey everyone,

Can anyone help me with this question?

I want to stream audio from my laptop to my stereo wirelessly. I know I can do this with Apple AirPort, but I'm pretty sure this limits me to iTunes. I use iTunes, but I want to have it so that I can sit here with my MacBook on my table, and all audio (be it iTunes, YouTube, other apps) will be transmitted wirelessly across the room to my stereo.
Be even better if the receiver on the stereo is able to receive a signal from multiple transmitters (I.e. the other two computers in our house, one being a MacBook Pro, the other an iMac).

Any ideas?

Thanking you in anticipation.

This (combined with AirPort Express) might be a goer: http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/

i use airfoil. it's a great app. you can select any application and route the audio output thru your airport.

So concieveably I can be using Traktor in my studio and have it playing through the speakers in the lounge room ,provided the speakers in the loungeroom are connected to an airport?

should be able to, yes - unless you're using an NI Interface, (built-in soundcard into an S4 etc.). I don't know how it would work with that... I've thought the same thing.

Yes I am in fact using an S4. You do have the option in Traktor not to use the S4 sound card, but rather the laptop one as normal.

Hmmmm I might wander over the the Apple Store near work and pick up an airport.

@spiral, iTunes is not the issue mate. All sorted now thanks to Airfoil and Airport Express.

Have you managed to wirelessly stream Traktor this way?

I don't use Traktor anymore mate. I use Serato Itch (hardware dependent), which uses an external soundcard, so no - I don't imagine it would work, as the audio processing is done outside of the computer.
