can you still hear the high end?
Special Hegg wrote:http://www.headphones.com.au/psingle?productID=7

Get the clear ones.

It does cut the high end a little bit, but mostly it's quite an even balance.
huge wrote:you dont even notice you have them in after about 30mins. or when people see you have earplugs in and touch/flick/take them out.

custom made ones are much better, much flatter frequency response than those $35 ones + u can get changable filters, 9db, 15db & 25db

;)

Cheap and do the job okay. $30-35 RRP.

Can get them from any musical instrument retailer.

how can mans put a price on health of ones system.....your ears dont just hear shit they are also a major player in your spatial awareness/balance etc. while its true thats mainly the middle and inner ear the whole thing is one system and one cannot survive without the other

Ey sup ya'll ill tell u guys a story of my mates really bad tinitus

after bashing his ears; club after club, producing at home, full blast on headphones he fucked his ears so badly that he couldent leave his house for 3 months. High pitched noises such as a bird chirping would make him keel over in pain, grabbing his ears. Hes now got a constant ringing aswell.
this is just an extreme.

be smart.
hear smart.
mart.

I get these fabulous noises in my ears that sounds like tracing paper being scrunched, and the pressure changes on me all the time. Is that normal?
Hyperacusis can have similar symptoms to those your describing...

hearos?
i had two pairs before and was well happy with them, the new pair though i'm not to happy with everything sounds more choked, and muddy and way too much treble is lost and they are really uncomfortable.
thinking i might contact them and see if i can get another pair, wondering if these are defective of something, or maybe its the change from blue to clear?

I bought a pair of Etymotic Research plugs from earjobs.com.au

Do a great job. Clear reduction in dB but can now chat to the person next to me... awesome!

Etmiotics are the way to go. Been using them for years.

The customs are much better then the er-20's.

Unfortunatly it will never sound as good as it does with them off... but so often shit's too loud and they are life-savers. Also if a system is sounding a bit ratty it will smooth out the highs. If it's tuned well however, it does make it a bit too bassy, but nothing like foam ones do.

i have two sets of etimiotics now and keep one at home and one in the city in case i forget them huhu. can't not have them in at raves now, shits just too noisy without em.

do you guys wear earplugs when you go out to any gig? I'm a casual musician and wear them whenever I jam, but have started thinking about the damage I do to my ears when I go out to gigs or dj nights. drum and bass is obviously loud, but even other types of music can get pretty loud. i went out to a soul night a while ago and my ears were ringing at the end of the night which is not a good sign. i've got 'hearos', which i bought from allens, and they're see-through, but you can still see the things sticking out. are there any that cut the db evenly that are less conspicuous? i mean i'd rather look like a bit silly than have tinnitus, but if i can minimise that it'd be good.

also, how do you guys think hearos rate to other non-custom earplugs? e.g those etymonic ones.. they look pretty similar..

anyway, gonna start wearing them out to any club i go to, I hate lying in bed at the end of the night and getting the ear ringing.

yeah I think I'm gonna start doing the same.. not worth it. it's like wearing a helmet, I mean, it's not that cool, but if it saves my life (or hearing) then it's cool enough for me.

I wear em at pretty much all gigs too. These days I can tell straight away whether or not a system is too loud for my ears. From time to time the occasion arises where I'm at a gig and decide I don't need them, but this is VERY rare

I carry a set of hearos in my backpack all the time just in case. There's nothing worse than being forced to use foam ear plugs from behind the bar or 7/11. Recipe for a shit night out

On the subject of the way they look, I couldn't give a rats. The bit that protrudes is clear plastic and barely visible. TBH even if they were safety orange and twice the size I'd still wear em, coz they kick arse. Gigs and raves have been so much more enjoyable since I started wearing ear plugs
