How do i...?
How do i...?
If i have a loop, weather its vocals or synth or bass how do i change the BPM to fit im my track? Is it just as simple as changing the BPM's so it fits ????
What Jules said. All depends on what sort of sound you want to modify.
Pitch shift will basically speed up the audio clip like on a turntable, altering the tempo and pitch concurrently. The pros and cons of doing this should be obvious.
Timestretch will grab tiny fragments of the clip and repeat them to make a sound go for longer without changing the pitch. It helps to know the tempo of the original clip before stretching to the new tempo. Bear in mind the more timestretch you apply, the more audible the repeats (or artefacts) become.
With drums, it's relatively easy to see where the hits are in the waveform. Get out the old scissor tool and drag them hits around, snapping to the tempo grid of the tune and you should find you have a cleaner, less processed-sounding beat.
What software are you running Fents? Most audio programs should have these options anyway.
Don't forget to tune in tomorrow, where I'll show you how to disappear up David Copperfield's arse.

what they said
if its a pad or some shit, vocal etc, and ya wannastrech the sample to fit your tune while preserving the pitch, use this forumla to figure it out how much to stretch:
(length of 1 bar of your tune in seconds) divide by (lenth of sample in
seconds) = ratio x:100 .. you can then use the ratio to set the ammount
of time strech.
you'll find that ratio shit in any wave editors timestretch function
or just make all the sounds urself

alternately fents you could dump the sample onto cd... then throw it on the dennon.... pitch shift it so that its 175bpm or whatever fits what ur making... then record it back onto yr hard-drive.
dennon has up to +-100 pitch/key shift
i know its a lengthy process but if ya can't work out how to do it on your computer it would still work

Recycle is made for this, and its dead easy to use.
Open your accappella, slice and trim it into a few bars then enter how many bars or beats it is. If youve done it correctly it will work out the tempo then you can turn on the preview button and speed it up or slow it down without it turing into a chipmunks christmas special. Unless you want to do it within your software....What are you using?
