FMR RNC compressor 2 channel,
how do you find that unit? has nice reviews.
Yeah... It's ok...
quite nice....

I don't use it much now..
I have 20 db of soft limit on my converters that slam harder and faster than any outboard compressor I've heard.

Yeah good for guitar before the amp...
Bass is ok.. but a little testy.
you need to have a long release time or it'll pull the waves down and distort them..

waste of time on drums...
no snap..
Overheads ok.. and maybe hihats, but who mics a hihat.... ??

but for loops.. forget it..

I need something for drums (djembe and other hand drums and precusion) acoustic guitar, some woodwind and some brass. Maybe some drunken MC's, vocalists, spoken abuse etc  I've got to get some better condensor mic's first, but it's handy to plan ahead incase stuff comes up cheap I think.

but you would'nt really want to use it as a compressor..?

the apogee soft limit is nice for avoiding overs (and sometimes to squeeze some loudness), but its hardly a versitile compressor.

dave go for the RNC, there's not alot else in that price range that will compare.

also check out the RNLA for a different flavor on compression.

Versitle smirshitile..
the Soft limit on the apogees is Giant..
It's slams beats hards.
I use it like a compressor and don't lose any of the transients.
even the fastest outboard compressors give some loss of dynamic.
and snap..
so I really just use my software limiters and comps for parallel compression and the apogee for Bass and drums.

dude.. RME generally have about 18db..
try it, crank your Pres above 0 and see how hard you can squeeze it.
If it's not the best compression you've heard... well... it could be..
but give it a listen..

That's it, I'm getting the vacc out and a couple of garbage bags. My "studio" looks like someone stood at the corner of the room and through records and beer cans at a computer and mobile DJ set up....

MPC60 = Dope swing and 12bit lushness

MPC2500 = New OS, RAM, etc. etc.

Recently I flicked the 2500 and 'downgraded' to the 1k for portability & JJOS gives me most of the features of the 2500.

yeah. Have not been using it that long. But makes sense to have it there, although it replaces alot of your fiddly mouse functions like arming tracks, automating faders and other shit, it can't browse menus and crap like that with it - Still need mouse.
