Flippo Mix (dub, techno, dubstep etc)

Post by flippo »

Starts of slow 80bpm eventually works through super-minimal dub techno, a bit less minimal-ish techno, and dubstep and miscelaneous beats. Thought there might be some sounds in there some of you haven't heard so descided to upload and share it. I don't smoke anymore but if I did I'd definatley blaze up before listening to these tunes, particularly the first half :hint: :D

... but, having said that, this is what it would look like if you were a small water-proof dog living in a bowl of lime cordial, in a dark warehouse under a lamp. You look up into the light, waiting for the monkey people to sprinkle shortbread crumbs in to feed on...

enjoying this.

nice sensitivity to the way its put together and mixed. i like.

that thom yorke remix is sweet.

does basic refer to basic channel? the whole first section is very basic channelly, but thankfully moves beyond this just before it gets samey

yeah it's the same group/label really.

rhythem and sound is their more dub stuff. Basic channel is the more experiemental clickety clack stuff, and maurizio is the more dancy techno stuff.

The modern love guys are a different camp, similar vibes though.

it was ncie to hear that stuff again - few years back i used to buy a bit of the rhythm and sound, not so much the basic channel, but after a while lost interest - but hearing in this context is nice nice

Definatley expect much heavier vibes at that gig, compared to this mix. This one is for the loungeroom.

tractor + presonus firebox (headphone que, bedroom stereo main etc) + midi control. When I did this mix I was using my midi keyboard which was a bit lol, volume slider was x-fader, mod wheel fine pitch (shitty resolution), and then knobs for EQ and main pitch, and keys for nudging etc. Bit dodgy but only one mild trainwreck comming out into that Gus Gus tuneI think. Tthe resolution/feel of the mod wheel for pitch was rubbsh. I recently picked up a M-audio X-session which is pretty cool though, set out much more like a CJD and mixer (accept with denon style pitch buttons isntead of jog wheel) so that will be a little bit less ghetto!

Yeah some hard pitching you're right, but don't really have a choice going from 80ish to 140+ in an hour though I guess heh. Just the way it worked out. Fait bit of - to + pitching going on.

Glad you enjoyed it. How can one not love Rhythm and sound though? so bliss :D
