I'll throw in Cristian Alexanda's debut CD for the winner too

"Australia's first true R'n'B/Hip-Hop LP Featuring the Smash Hits Misunderstood and Party Anthem"

not autographed unfortunately - he's a big star and notoriously difficult to get hold of

can anyone recommend a good Vietnamese restaurant in Victoria Street, Richmond?

I know there's more Vietnamese restaurants there than you can shake a stick at but are there any that stand out in terms of quality, value for money, atmosphere etc?

I've been living a stones throw away from Victoria St for the past 2 years, I think I've got it sussed. =)

If you want good atmosphere, got to Thy Thy, it's real cheap too.

Don't get this confused with Thy Thy 2 however (Also on Victoria Street - The sequels are never as good as the original).

The place I always go to though, Tanh Ha. About 75 meters away from Thy Thy (going away from the city). Best food, and it's just a tad more expensive. The decore is heaps better though.

Just to clarify.

It's listed in the whitepages as:

Banh Cuon Thanh Ha

I'm not sure if many places along Victoria St take bookings. But, I've never waited more than 5mins for a table at Thanh Ha.

Lucas' Thanh Ha favourites:

Rice paper rolls with vegetables (comes with a yummy peanut sauce thing).
Soft fried egg noodles with vegetables.
Fried bean curd with mushrooms (or baby corn).
Salt & pepper squid (comes with lots of garlic - not good for 1st hot date).

Enjoy. =)

Thy Thy is bloody excellent.

We recently went to Tran Tran though because friends dine there every Monday. Looked at the menu and thought "where is the Vietnamese??" sure, we found the rice paper rolls and beef with vermicelli, but most of it was all chinese stuff. :(

We have a fairly new place on Lygon that does Vietnamese. Super simple menu of all the classic dishes we had eaten in Vietnam. Yaay!! Vina Bar, just next door to University Cafe. Good cheap clean and yum. Got to go back and see how their Pho is :D
