Gimme a Break! 2nd B'day! NEW VENUE! - Sat 4th Feb
Celebrating their second Birthday on Sat 4th of Feb at a whole new and exciting venue - The Public Office, Gimme a Break! once again returns, pulling no punches to bring you Melbourne’s biggest, baddest, and most up to date independent breaks party.
After a short hiatus over Summer, the boys are back - hyped about the new venu, well refreshed, but also having worked their game hard over the festive season.
So get yourself prepared for some extreme mixology, crate-loads of new and original breaks and dance-floor rocking beats - many as of yet unheard on the dance-floors of our fair city.
Described by hard breaks maestro’s the Breakfastaz as one of the most amazing underground parties they have ever played at - the Gimme crew aims to continue tradition, and bring their trademark 120% or nothing style of crowd pleasing breakology back to Melbourne, and give the town the shot in the arm it needs to once again put it on the map when it comes to rocking floors, busting beats, breaking hearts, warping minds and going through breaks records at a pace that could make Speedy Gonzalez weep.
With lots of new ideas, massive ‘brought in’ sound, and over the top amazing visuals by our resident screen-masters Lucid Visuals, there is no doubt the Gimme crew will once again deliver the goods, and the kick-ass new venue will transformed into an astounding epi-center of breakbeat mayhem on a bi-monthly basis from now onwards, with many other projects organized for the months in between.
(Maybe a secret party or two? The word ‘warehouse’ springs to mind. Who knows? We have lots planned, and 2006 is going to be a good year for Melbourne breaks )
So come help us blow out our candles, and celebrate the end of our second year of operation, and kick on into the third. Help us rock our new home-base for the first time, and most importantly of all help keep the scene alive and original, at a party that is done purely for the love of Breaks.
Yeah, you heard me! - Tough, nasty, new, funky as fuck, dance-floor orientated Breakbeat!
Mixed without a hitch - by an incredibly diverse line-up of Melbourne’s best.
So...
LETS GET IT ON!!
Check out the line-up.........

Hey! Lucas or Lynt - you can join this up to the other thread if you like, and combine them into one, or delete the other if you like.
Just have the initial post on this thread as the intro if you would, and cut the first post on the other, if you do decide to join them.
Thanx heaps guys.

wicked dude enjoy..Lucid_Visuals wrote:oh yeah, YENKS I got your DVD in the mail yeaterday, thanks mate. Haven't had a chance to go through all of it but what i've seen so far is pretty cool. You might see some of it on a big screen....
theres fuckin soooo many videos on there, some are not the best quality, but still there are some kickass showreels, 3d animations, weird movies and wacky clips in that dvd i sent ya...
there is 1 old school 1 in the other folder thats called "duck and cover" which is an actual 1950s movie teaching kids how to duck and cover when the fucking atom bomb explodes !!! lol yeah thatll save em
but yeah i often just chuck on those showreels as background shit for when i have ppl over and mix it up. ppl always love to watch em with breaks in the background.
but yeah dude i hope to see some of it on the big screen...
glad u can use it. cos its a waste for me just having em when they can be enjoyed by BREAKS enthusiasts alike !!!
oh yeah GIMME ROCKS !!! im pumped !!!
Yep, in my opinion Sal is one of the best female breaks DJ's in Aus, has paid her dues, and is by far the best female DJ playing breaks in Melb right now - but she doesn't just play breaks, she does the whole lot.deviant wrote:Great to see "The storm" on the bill. Fuckin' can't wait for this. has been tooooo long between drinks
Her and Brain doing verses is always interesting - as not only are they musically linked, but romantically too.
Just keep the 'love' in the bedroom ok guys. This is a family breaks gig.
Could not agree with you more on the Sal front, Brain, too. Top people, top dj's; they make a great combination. Got to hang with them last night in Collingwood...the lovebirds!Little Evil wrote:Yep, in my opinion Sal is one of the best female breaks DJ's in Aus, has paid her dues, and is by far the best female DJ playing breaks in Melb right now - but she doesn't just play breaks, she does the whole lot.deviant wrote:Great to see "The storm" on the bill. Here's a map of the area around the new venue.
The Public Offic is located around where the pink dot is on Adderly Street (See the pink dot on the map - 4 mins walk from Southern Cross Station - formerly known as Spencer St)

I fucked up a post, accidently, so I thought I'd just whack in a map for you all for shits and giggles - also, so you don't get lost.

No, I stayed home, sat in front of a computer all weeekend, working tunes.
I left the house twice, both for very short periods. (Yes, I am a Nerd)
I'm going straight edge this year. My life depends on it.
Belgium beer garden rocks - just for the chick action alone.
Only been there once - had a ball.
