Setting Up Technics Stylus's Properly

So i just two of purchased these :



($250 @ DMC keepin it LOCAL!)

So can someone give me a quick rundown on how to set em up proper. Before i had the same needles just with a headshell and not the concorde style. And im sure due to excessive use and not being setup right there fucked, alhto they have lasted me 3+years....

So How do i get them at the right height once on a record? What antiskip should i set them to? And where should the weight on the tonearm be set?

3 grams for the concords.

Just balance the counterwieght so the cartridge floats in the air, set the weight bezel to 0, then wind it around to 3g.

You can get the heigh right just by sight, chuck a record on your platter, and put the needle on, the tonearm should be completely horizontal.

As far as I know, you should match the anti skate to the wieght you have on your needle (3 grams)....but this isnt so good for djing cause you'll notice it will pop out when cueing. Most scratch djs have anti-skate set at 0, so you probably want it somewhere in between @ 1.5.

Dont put too much weight on the concords...they dont need it cause they have really good tracking anyway...and it will just eat your tunes.

anti-skate at 0, even if you aint scratchin you back cue, back cueing with anti skate on increases wear on outer side of groove from my understanding. if someone out there knows better please correct me

i've seen a mod where you can replace this with an LED. not only will it be brighter, it should theoretically last about 11 years of constant use (on 24/7). I guess it all depends on how keen you are with a soldering iron. also i'd say it would void your warranty (although i assume it's long expired). Looks pretty cool with coloured LEDs

I can give your deck a full service and replace the pop up light with a red, blue, green, white or yellow Super Bright LED. I don't replace with the globes as they always die whereas the LED wil last as long as you're playing wax. Service includes, clean, lube, pitch adjustment, brake adjustment, tone arm rebalance, base leveling, all this for $55.

I am in Blackburn, if you have the original box and foam we can ship via couriers please for $10 each way or drop it off at the workshop.

how much for both? and do you have replacement foam spacer or whatever that keeps the pitch slider even, mine isn't sitting flush, slight nod to the right - looks like somthing has come detached?

$110 for both unless you are a PBS, RRR or Syn FM subscriber then its 10% off.

I can't get the felt pad that goes between the pitch slider and the knob, but it doesn't make any difference anyway, when I open it up I can have a look at what the problem is and let you know what needs to be done, most likely just a bent pin, happens alot. Easily fixed, inlcuded in service.
