The best mixer I have seen to date

Post by system »

..is the new Rane TTM-57SL
Rane.com wrote:The TTM 57SL combines the best Rane and Serato have to offer in a single, high performance mixer. Finally a mixer that fully integrates mixer hardware, software and software controls in one powerful package. The TTM 57SL combines all the performance and features of the Rane TTM 56 with Serato Scratch LIVE software. We didn't stop there -- we also included internal effects with six stereo insert points.

The TTM 57SL allows the user to simultaneously:
  • Play a combination of digital and analog sources.
  • Play up to two digital files controlled by vinyl or CD while recording your mix.
  • Or, record two stereo sources when not using vinyl or CD control.
  • Cue analog and digital sources.
  • Operate standalone as a no-compromise performance mixer.
it looks amazing. bring on April!

Is USB fast enough to cope with the tracking and stuff?

(Sorry, I only know a little bit about Serato Scratch)

yeah, it is. I'm totally addicted to it - but I'm using my housemates copy at the moment. this is the answer to my prayers.

USB in to computer - running back out of your PC/Mac for simultaneous monitoring/playback may prove a little difficult though

you can just feed audio into thru usb ya?
doesn't look like it. the USB port is the interface for Serato Scratch.

USB2 is specced at 60MB/s. You won't achieve those speeds but there's plenty of bandwidth to play with.

serato is really good, especially with a fast computer. i can achieve 1-3ms of latency using an AMD 3800X2 on an NF3 board. so it's more "how quick" (latency) rather than "how much" (bandwidth)

are the ins and outs of serato in the mixer hard wired inside the mixer ? maybe this setup would have less risk of picking up noise (compared to a stand alone serato)?
