He donated $1,000 for an open bar at the local pub to help them celebrate/commiserate. Doesn't sound very wrong to me!
Channel 7 and Channel 9 locked in a bidding war for their story.

Eddie is head of channel 9.

I don't mean to be cynical but i'm sure that played a big part in getting him to Beaconsfield.

Having said that, I just read the full details of their two weeks down there and seriously, they are definitely heros!! What they put up with is pretty heavy. The space they were in was so small, they were lying with their legs over the top of each other.

I had asked where you'd read the description, but your response was so very matter of fact that you sounded like an ad for The Age. Hilarrrrrious Rrrrex

its just a shame that the past 7 work related deaths in the past two months in victoria have gone unnoticed, and to which their families will probably receive very little compensation or exposure for what they have gone through. Reports now suggest these gentleman will both receive up to 3 million dollars each, surely they experienced alot, but 3 million dollars could build a hostel shelter large enough to accomodate most of the homeless in Melbourne, and im sure channel nine and seven would be able to broadcast some amazing stories from the folks that could be housed. What a fucked world we live in.

Nine's coverage went for the very in your face, sensational style with some cringe-worthy attempts at heartfelt sympathy.
On the other hand, Seven while also blitzing the tv screens, at least stayed at arms length and showed some respect to the community. The minor’s families recognised this, as was seen by one of the minors giving Koche(Sunrise) his name tag out the ambulance door on the way to hospital.
that dude was apparently a long time fan of 'Koshie' (hence the gesture) - mind you thats according to 'Koshie', so dont hold it against him.
I understood that Koshie had been talking to them while they were down there and letting them know what was going on for the last 7 or 8 days... something like that. And giving him the name tag or whatever it was, was a gesture of thanks. I could be wrong.

22 days at sea.

still not heroic by my definition, but it puts the mine coverage in perspective:
