i reckon it's got funk. some things to try (or not ):
the build up is predictable. change it if you don't want it to be predictable. like, chuck some syncopated snares in there or something. it seems to be what people who are doing massive kick roll drops do nowadays.
everything but the beat seems to disappear just after the drop. maybe carry something thru, like those spinning sounds that come in a bit later or a one note bass line. the second build up and drop doesn't have this problem.
maybe octave double the bassline to give it a bit more middle? doesn't really burst out at me like it could. like if you chucked a xray-style sub bassline an octave higher that your other one, it might have heaps more presence.
you could bring the melodic pads into the main bit to introduce them before the drop.
but don't get me wrong; i think it's all good.

Cheers dude, I respect your critz. If you listen to it on large daiphram speakers, you'll find the bass fills out a room. I find doubling the bass line makes it too muddy. Whats an x-ray style sub bass line?valuetime wrote:maybe octave double the bassline to give it a bit more middle? doesn't really burst out at me like it could. like if you chucked a xray-style sub bassline an octave higher that your other one, it might have heaps more presence
not sure if the link will work... but listen to this about 25 seconds in for the x-ray track i'm talking about. hard to hear because it's so compressed, but in between the synth riffs is the sub bass i'm talking about.

cheers guys. I really wanted to make something that would appeal to non dnb headz. One of the break downs goes into a 'hardcore' sound with a kick drum in each beat of the 4/4 bar, then the needle slides off the record and it goes back into dnb. Sposed to be like, "whats this techno stuff...(then) ahhh dnb...
I reacon it works.
