I read an article somewhere where someone who had owned an origgianl MS-20 road tested that against the software and midi controller you can get with it..
Image

and he basically said he couldnt tell much difference at all, except the original ms-20 was a little wild and didnt hold its pitch as well

but all in all thats a pretty good review to say it stands up against an original piece of hardware almost flawlessly

add the midi functionality as well :)

I forgot I even had the Korg Legacy soft-synth.

Can't run her in Tools - coz she's not RTAS (not the one I have anyway).

Searching for VST wrapper as we speak (type).

this package is pretty wild. just missed out buying a korg mono/poly on ebay so instead grabbed this instead.

does anyone actually use the synths in unison or do they just use them individually?

pesonally im trying to keep away from standard patches so building sounds over both is a bit beyond my knowledge/experience thus far. i think i have the poly6 down but the ms20 is the beast to conquer

hey I've missed something in my rush to load pirated sh*t on my pc.........you can have them all playing, somehow linked

or do you mean stacking a few synth tracks ontop of each other?

I am not being rude luka just wondering cause just the way you described it sounds like i have missed a pretty major part of the package..wouldnt surprise me

too many soft synths... i almost wish there wasnt sites like audionews sometimes..

yeah Luko Legacy is a powerful package because not only does it contain 2 of korg's hottest synths you also have the legacy function in which you combine the 2 synths, then route in fx, mix it down, create powerful aftertouch algorythms

assuming your using abelton, when you open your vst you should have 6 or so executables associated with legacy

legacy
poly6
poly6 fx
ms20
ms20 fx
wave somethin

b4 i was talking about building my own patches through the legacy function. i dont really have the experience with the patch bay to achieve hot hot sounds and have the confidence to combine that with added fx and poly6. i can build well on the poly6 because its a bit more easier to get my head around. hopefully once i have built my synth i will grasp the logic of the ms-20 electronics

i'm spending more time building patches on our microKorg and trying to tame the 101. dude the 101 surprizes me everyday, using in combination with extra processing its delivering fuckin amazing sounds

Lol

hey waht extra effects are you running the 101 thru :) I am v.interested

I tried running mine thru:

cuzn matt's distortion pedal, his jimi hendrix wah wah and then his flanger - sound nice thru teh flanger...but teh others were too much...and they were guitar pedals :)

with ableton and the legacy collection when i look in my vst folder - there are 5 or 6 things that you listed, but you drag one into a midi track and thats it,.....do you keep dragging one after the other or is there just one you garb that is all of them in one?

I reckon i have doen this before by accident, as i rememebr toggling the view and it changing between the poly six and the ms-20

but yeah i dont think i realsised they were all joined

very interesting!

we have a boss guitar driver rack,, the thing is noisy as hell but have has a nice distortion that you can parmetrically eq. also have a nice drive function and cutting. problem is its noisy as fuck

recently used it to distort deep resonance pings using the filter on the 101. they sounded like the dirties bass beats ever. will have to record som

we also have a dp/4. this is a effects processing unit that is mostly used for its reverb. basically makes this BIG. and have turned the 101 into an epic synth using that.

it just keeps changing shapes each time i try new stuff, love it.

check out this page luko it talks about all the components of the legacy package.

I dig!!!!

My mate from my old band (like 8-9 years ago) had an original ms20..... it was cool. I never understood all the patchbay and sound generator jargon though :? I just used the patches that came in the manual.

I've been loving the poly 6.... getting some rad sounds 8)

Damn, I need a new CPU - 2GHz isn't quite cutting it when I load up the Korg Wavestation - but fuck me if it doesn't have some bad-ass sounds on it!

LOVE THE LEGACY COLLECTION, and don't forget about the FM7!

yeh I need a new putter, been rewireing reason into ableton so I can have easier acces to vst without bouncing them and samppleing and shit. If i got both them running, and some soft synths and VST effects it completley fucking shits itself. Gotta cut all my midi riffs to audio, which gets annoying if you want to edit them quickly.

A necessary Evil. but if you save the patches and midi files you can go back to them at a later stage. Sometimes I've made made tunes and gon eback into them and kept working on them, and I do a rough mixdown along the way - but I found sometimes an earlier synth sound or pattern was lost to the great big universe of deleted ideas. So even with the processing power to have everything running, inclusing multipl VST soft synths and FX theres a downs side to it.
I'm getting into the habit of clearly marking project info - files and directories top allow for better recovery of ideas, samples and patterns.
The best way to cure a broken heart is to give the pieces away
