After releases on uk labels : Gain, Signal, Camoflage and Hidden Kings,
Motion Theory is back to attack. But this time on a label of belgian origin...
Both solo projects by vince peersman, the man behind factsoflife design (http://www.foldesign.com)
and 50% of motion theory, these tunes are ruffer than what we are used from them.
Not that that is bad thing offcourse.
Lake placid starts off with a weird kick pattern that could have been a old scott brown tune
and takes you thru a eclectic path of soundeffects and a marching beat until it explodes into a bass driven nightmare.
"vince : i wanted to create a drum n bass track that wasnt based on a typical dnb-riff,
didnt have a typical intro/break/drop pattern
but rather come from a place that blends a forgotten style into ruff unknown territory.
breaking walls down is important in music and this is one of my own little attempts."
The virtual flipside of the release is Shaolin...
A powerfull hiphop intro with an asian stringset as a backing melody
makes place for a tearing catchy riff in a vivid break filled with basstabs and screeching noises like we have heard on their hidden kings release
teh ocean of calmness ends rather surisingly when teh beats switch the track into a sped up current
crashing and bouncing in all directions like 2 shaolin monks having a fierce swordfight. mental.
Supported by no one other than smoke, sparfunk, future prophecies, subsonik, nightwalker and many others,
these releases will not dissapoint.
