yeah someone emailed me the audio a couple of years ago and i listened to it, was a bit gruesome but after seeing the movie i really want to listen to it again.tappy wrote:saw that recently too. Awesome film, really beautiful but it has this "stench of death" over it, which makes it even more compelling. Audio floating around? like, you've heard it? i didn't think it ever got out...cj the taniwha wrote:watched grizzly man the other night, really good doco by werner herzog about the guy that lived with grizzlies for 12 years and then got eaten, there was some gruesome audio floating about of the bears munching him and his g/f (which i can no longer find). i thought it would be crap but it was really good, the subject is a bit of a nutjob tho...

Yeah I want to check it out to. I watched on The Movie Show, there was a mini interview with the director/writer can't exactly remember what he said, but he definately came up with some great answers such as, "If your not a smoker, walk away then." And "People/we know the effects of smoking, but people still choose to smoke.."ghetto kitty wrote:yes.
go see 'thankyou for smoking'
i havent seen it yet, but apprently it is a really funny satire about a tobbacco lobbyist who convinces people smoknig is good.
rave reviews.
Something a rather.

you dont go up to a overweight person who is shoving a twinkie into their mouths and say 'how can you eat that, you know your gonig to die if you keep eating that shit"
yet nobody has trouble saying that to a smoker.
its our/thier choice.

@ gk, so true!
the first one is great - I saw it in Wellers at some flash cinema with a bar inside whilst killing time before the inter islander departed. ended up getting so boozed I missed the end cause of going to the toilet.
def check it out D. and if you can smoke ciggies while you watch it - cause I said so.

Fuckin' weird shit.
Maybe I had SUPER low expectations but it was quite good I thought. Not as scary as I expected but I thought the story wasn't bad (considering the fact that it's based on a video game!!) and the effects were pretty nice too.Rob M wrote:Silent Hill is crap.
Maybe it's cos I thought Rhada was a cutie on sugar and spice and my opinion aint changed much in the last 15ish years!!!
I'm going in with low expectations too, but i fucking LOVE the SH games, and always thought the stories and concepts of those games would make a great movie. I also believe it would be difficult to translate it faithfully, so we'll see..Hatsudai wrote:Maybe I had SUPER low expectations but it was quite good I thought. and the most artistic way to convey that message is - oo lets think - a video assignment confessional - cause its easier then developing complex characters and in today's post modern unironic ironic media stupor its easier to rattle off in-depth spoken to the camera vignettes instead of having a great script and an orifinal idea.Hardy wrote:No, the message is that Ollie is a stupidhead.mecka wrote:And that message is that the cool kids in high school will always be cool.
i dunno i'm just guessing now
the director sounds like a suicidal failure.
dumb idea done by a fucken do-gooder, really badly.

Watched Primer on the weekend
about a group of enterprenurial guys who meet in one of their garages in their spare time trying to invent the next whiz bang technology.
two of them are mucking about with magnets and develop what they consider to be a viable new power source. Instead they find that with a little modification what they have actually invented is a time machine.
This is an indie movie and was made on what appears to be a pretty small budget, and what I have to say is this.
It was great.
Hard to follow because the plot gets bloody complex (especially towards the end), and so in part ends up being a sort of sci fi mystery. The guys keep traveling back only a few days in time and so they have to be wary of not running into themselves, or messing with causality. Certainly not a new idea but it is accomplished very well.
really really enjoyed this movie, and I would say it requires at least two, but prob three sittings to fully understand what happens in the movie. Alas I only got to watch it 1 1/2 times, so I'm still a little in the dark as to the chain of events towards the end (mainly because the characters are involved in numerous chains of events occuring concurrently - in short it messes with your head a great deal)
I gave this 2 3/4 liberty bells.

but it says what they have built on the back of the DVD cover.mecka wrote:You probably shoulda kept the whole plot a secret Josh...
realising what they've built is a major part of the primer experience...
I don't think I've given anything away.
sorry If i have though, I was trying to not be a plot spoiler.

depends on whether you were convinced by the way the students were portrayed as suicidal and if the plot/ character development was a good script or lazy technique.Hardy wrote:That's a tad harsh don't you think?factory worker wrote:and the most artistic way to convey that message is - oo lets think - a video assignment confessional - cause its easier then developing complex characters and in today's post modern unironic ironic media stupor its easier to rattle off in-depth spoken to the camera vignettes instead of having a great script and an orifinal idea.Hardy wrote: No, the message is that Ollie is a stupidhead.
